Remember pumping quarters into your favorite video games at the classic Arcade? Nothing would beat the colorfully-decorated cabinets, the smell of popcorn and candy and best of all, the endless hours of competition with friends, trumping the top score, and mastering the machine.

This Spring, Game Room on Xbox LIVE lets you relive the glory days of the classic arcade. Play as your Avatar and enjoy the original sights, sounds, and gameplay that make these retro games come alive on Xbox 360 and Games for Windows LIVE.

*Relive the glory days of the classic arcade: Game Room replicates the old-school look, sound, and feel of a retro video game Arcade. At launch, Game Room brings you a library of 30 original arcade and console classics from Activision, Atari, Intellivision, Konami, Taito, and others, including Centipede, Asteroids Deluxe, and Super Cobra shown in their original cabinets. Create a brand new social environment your Avatar can explore, personalize your game room by arranging your cabinets, and decorate each room with themes and animated mascots. Invite your friends on Xbox 360 or Windows PC to check out your games collection. With weekly new title releases, your arcade will be retro-fitted to perfection.
*Prove you're the arcade master: Think you have what it takes? Challenge friends to beat your high score by sending custom challenges and taunts across platforms, earn Achievements, unlock levels, and climb your way to the top of universal leaderboards. Compete in parallel mode, in which you and your friend play the game at the same time, or round robin mode, in which you take turns playing a game. Game Room also offers local couch play for up to two players -- how will you duke it out for arcade supremacy? Enjoy a seamless experience across Xbox 360 and Windows PC as you share games, track your progress, and jump back into the game no matter what platform you're on. You can even invite friends into your custom arcade to check out your collection.
*Buy Game Room titles once and play on both Xbox 360 and Windows PC: Enjoy the freedom of buying Game Room once and playing on your platform of choice -- Xbox LIVE or Windows PC. Purchase a classic arcade game you can enjoy on both Xbox 360 and Windows PC platforms for less than the price of a movie ticket. If you prefer to play on one platform, you can purchase individual games for either Xbox 360 or Windows PC at a lower price or even pay to play a single game, just like in the old arcades. See how long you can last on a single token!

My local arcade didn't smell of popcorn and candy. It smelt of fags and piss.

This is going sound like I'm baiting (really, I am not) but so far I have no desire to play any of those games when I'm in the era of Xbox360/Wii/PS3. They hardly classify to what you call 'classics'. No doubt the service will improve but do not want to play any of those

The list's poo so far. Just give me Daytona Usa; Pac-Man and/or SEGA Rally (oh and Virtua Fighter 1&2) and I'll be interested though.

I misread Space Hawk as Space Harrier then.

They're arcade games from my childhood.....

I expect they'll release arcade games from the late nighties in due course.

The age rating so far is only up to the age of 10. Once that opens up we'll see more no doubt.

Why on earth would you want Pac-Man when it and the far superior Pac-Man C.E. are both already on live arcade?

You can but the games or just pay for one go.

Either way this seems pretty crap to me, no sale.

If I get it free due to already owning Pac-Man on XBLA that is. :-P Which it won't and I won't bother also.

There's a few in there I'd consider classics. Though I'm 95% sure that Star Raiders wasn't actually an arcade machine.

Why would I pay for old arcade games which on this are quite expensive, when I could get one of the many arcade collections now for cheaper, or just use mame.

Its not just old arcade machines, some old consoles like the Intellevision (sp?) are already supported and they will probably add more over time.

What do you think the chances are of New Zealand Story appearing on this? I sank so many 10p's into that machine at Bracknell Sports Centre when I was a nipper.

Now that I'd buy. I'd probably get Continental Circus too.

I was thinking there wasn't anything I'd want from that era, but yeah, there actually are a load of awesome arcade games.

Ooooh. Rainbow Islands.

Not exactly legal though is it.

Its not really an argument that makes much sense, its the same with anything you could download a copy of instead of buying.

Plus in Game Room you presumably get stuff like Leaderboads (or do you?)
