I still use GAME quite a lot as I like the whole buying a game in a shop ritual (plus paying in cash and getting the game instantly) as opposed to buying online, and on the high street there often isn't much choice. Sainsburys/Argos only have limited stock of usually the biggest games, and the independent games shop in Reading is good but a lucky dip as to what games it stocks (lots of niche titles but strange omissions too). HMV have pretty much stopped selling games now as well.

Does that experience make up for paying a lot more per game?

Women are so lovely.

Never pre-order or pre-purchase a console, game or season pass.

Isn't that the case with all loyalty schemes?

This one really needed the 'You can't lose' explanation more front and centre, as on the face of it the deal looked awful. I mean, it still does if you bear in mind that GAME tends to sell games for a fiver more than anywhere else, but anyway.

I've always found loyalty schemes to be less than rewarding. Tesco gives you a penny back on every pound which considering the hundreds of pounds I spend there is peanuts. Last quarter I got £7 in reward vouchers meaning I had spent approximately £700 there in three months. Hardly rewarding loyalty is it?

As for GAME this all smacks of a company on it's last legs making a last ditch attempt to make a bit of quick cash... in which case fair play to them.

Yeah, but if you'd spent that £700 in Asda you wouldn't have anything. What are you expecting, a free car? Supermarket margins are small enough as it is.

£5-10 more for no waiting on the post and paying in cash is worth it for me tbh

Also on the subject of loyalty cards, super market or otherwise, when it gets down to 1% I'd rather pay the penny on every pound for Tesco or whoever to not track my weekly shop.

I want to find someone who has signed up for this elite service so I can laugh at them.

To me this smack of desperate attempt to claw in more money before the administrators are finally called in, which is pretty despicable.

Shares in GAME dropped 30% this morning after an announcement that profits will be "substantially below" expectations.

They're blaming Nintendo.

Game are suggesting that their projections were made on the basis that a console that no-one thought would be a big success, was actually a big success? Yeah right.

I don't know if this is the same for all retailers but don't GAME get their stock on credit and rely on selling it on to pay for it? HMV were in a similar position years ago, I remember when I bought my Vita from them it had a big "Property of SONY" sticker on the box.
