The price of the game I wanted was the same in Game/Argos.

When I asked Game to match Argos they laughed and said 'Argos don't do tradeins' and even if they did, they wouldn't match it.

I've not been in since.

I finished Rage earlier this week and wanted to trade it. Game offered me £7, HMV £8 and CEX offered me £16! Even the cash from CEX was £5 more than trade at Game :fp: .

Weird. I went in last week and they matched CEX's trade in price without even getting confirmation. (They offered £18, CEX were offering £22) I guess it depends on the store.

The Volume stat is what you're looking for. It shows that today, 16.63 million GAME shares were traded. Market capitalisation is the total amount of shares in the market times the current price, and currently stands at 22 million. I'll assume the low "shares total" is an error on Google's part.

Nah, I went to another site and it turns out Game have 347 million shares, not 3.47 million like Google said. 347 million x 6p or whatever adds up to the market value shown.

I'm tempted to take a similar gamble here.

Given the current share price I thought it was worth a risk for a hundred quid. I'm hoping they'll do relatively well over the christmas period to give them a good start to going up.

...if they thought they were going to have a good Christmas, surely they wouldn't have revised their numbers in the first place?

If you buy shares in Game all you'll really need to do is wait until the next generation comes out... and hope Game are still there.

Probably.

The share price right now is 6.55p, it's estimated to go down to 1.94p by 31st January 2013.

Jus sayin.

Come January/February I honestly think it is going to be carnage in the high street. So many retailers are sooo close to buckling under and they are holding out in the hope that Christmas can give them a stay of execution...all the signs are that this isn't going to happen. Bad times ahead methinks.

it's a reasonable risk i think. It's not the sort of amount of money that will break you if they collapse but it could give a little bonus if they recover.

Shares are up 5% so far today :)

Besides, this gives me an excuse for shopping at Game when people criticise me. I'm supporting my investment

Just over a penny per share. As soon as they hit 8p I'm in profit.

£100 got me 1,352 shares at the time. Given they have about 347 million shares.....I think we might struggle more than we initially thought :shifty:
