Just know that you'll be permabanned if I'm ever supplied with evidence of you buying a thing from a shop.

I don't understand Game. They went under because of their shitty business practices. Someone bought them and then continued on the same path. Why didn't they modernise?

Modernisation is hard, doubling down on being shitty is easy.

“Right”, I think, “time to buy FIFA.”

It’s £49.99 everywhere, and I want a copy pronto so I can play it tomorrow evening as the wife is out, might as well head into town and grab a copy from Game.

In-store price £52.99.

Just go buy any previous copy of Fifa and you'll have exactly the same game.

I actually saw a GAME shop today for the first time in years. Thought I'd check it out. They had a few phones, tablets and used consoles in the window, but not too many. Definitely a lot more used games than they used to stock, and lots of 'accessories', i.e. guides, keyrings, cables, soft toys, and those generic-as-fuck Pop! figures that every shop seems to have. Do people really buy those? They look awful, and seem way overpriced. Anyway, I've no intention of ever buying anything from GAME, but even if I did, the prices seemed pretty high which would've probably put me off. At least it smelled better than CEX, which nearly had me doing a 180 as soon as I walked in the door. How does a shop smell that bad? :dread:

Overheard an argument in the Sutton GAME with a woman and a member of staff at the till who had purchased a game but had been charged a £1 more than was advertised on the box. By the sounds of it they'd lumped on something called "Disc Care" automatically. WTF this gooseberry fool, then?

Yeah I've seen them offering that, "Would you like to protect your disc for £1?", basically an accidental damage warranty if you scratch the disc.
Probably has enough get out clauses that they never have to pay out on it though.

Never miss a trick these guys, huh.

I wonder if it's that Disc Doctor thing I saw advertised in the early 00s that cost about 20 quid. According to reviews it did work on mild scratches. It made sense back then as the PS1 itself honestly seemed to put hairline scratches on discs no matter what you did, but today 'scratch disc cover' is a blatant, cynical money grab from grannies.
