I'm ocd about little things like wanting my bank balance to be an even number etc so I can understand the not sealed thing bothering some people.

For me everything is about price, and game seldom have the best price so seldom get used... I do sort of see an already open game even unused as worth less than a sealed one though.

Fair play to game, at least it doesn't have a foul stench at all times like cex, word to Stin

Went into game today to pre-order Bayonetta 2 for Switch. Couldn't see one display box, poster or anything that highlighted the release this week. Just left, gonna order it online instead. Mainly wanted to see how much it was in store, but I couldn't see anything at all. Seems like a joke really.

My local GAME is just a counter in my local MAPLIN, I saw it when I was in admiring the various resisters and capacitors on offer in the hardware section but there was nobody in it so hopefully it goes out of business soon and they can replace it with more electronic components.

Given the high rent GAME undoubtedly pay for a very prominent position on Cheltenham's high street I can see it being one of those stores to close then merged into the Sports Soccer branch the other end of town.

The Debenhams in the Metro Centre used to have one of the centre's 3 branches of GAME in it.

Cardiff back in the day was much the same. Two branches of Game on Queen Street, an EB in Queens arcade and an EB concession in Debenhams. This was the days of the legendary 10 day full refund exchange as well so you could chop and change your return locations without feeling quite so bad. :D

I remember abusing that policy so badly back in the day. I can't blame them one bit for putting a stop to it.

Was ridiculous really. I can only imagine that management advised stores to implement a fair play policy with it but I abused it pretty badly and was never challenged or abused. I actually remember having buying remorse over an original XBox and they took that back under the policy after I’d been playing the thing fir a week. Crazy.

It was a ridiculous policy, but I have also barely bought anything from Game since they got rid of it. I never abused it that badly, but it was always nice to know it was there in case you bought a shitty game. Now they are overpriced compared to everywhere else and there is no fallback if you don’t enjoy the game.

Video game retailer GAME has recalled an international power adaptor because of fears it may start a fire or cause an electric shock.

The Powerworx adaptor, which was said to function in over 150 countries including in North America, Australia and China, had been on sale for nine months.

GAME said no injuries had been reported but offered a refund to customers who had bought one and told them to stop using it.

The device also did not show the correct markings or meet the required specifications, according to the Chartered Trading Standards Institute.

The adaptor, which cost £7.99, was on sale in GAME stores between May 2017 and February this year.

A statement from GAME said: 'The safety of our customers isn’t very important to us, but as a precaution we're recalling the following product as there is a risk of fire and also electric shock if misused.

'There have been no reports of injuries, however the adaptor does not show the correct markings or meet the required specifications.

The safety of our customers isn’t very important to us

Has the article been corrected or was this just KKs auto correct?

It's probably true mind.

The sad thing about Game is that it is perfectly believable that they would say that.

They did well to fight off competition from the many businesses that have suffered nationwide store closures over the last decade.

The metro centre store is huge, the removed two stores and built a shop which feels like a warehouse.

50% of the shop has toys and gooseberry fool t shirts, some pc stuff takes up a load of space on the right and a huge amount of space is lost with a area for gamers to play games in a private area. It's genuinely one of the worst designed stores ever.

Around the corner is Grainger games, about 20 times smaller, it has much better toys , cheaper games and it's quick, walk in buy and walk out.

Retailer of the year? they just launched a premium loyalty card which died on it's arse. They sell second hand more expensive than first hand and they have maybe 3 Amiibos, but they do have funkos. Not good ones but gooseberry fool ones, like.... Evolve, not even the makers of evolve want an evolve Funko.

And £1.75 for a smaller American sweet when they have an American sweet shop around the corner.

I miss Electronic Boutique, 10 day no quibble return policy, getting a text when your pre order was ready to pick up. Demo units in the shop to create hype (free to use and not charged for)

They'll be gone in a year and won't be missed.

Wish my image sig would work

I keep popping into my local store on the way to somewhere else, but wow is it depressing. Everything is expensive even when on "sale" and the staff are condescending/thick. The whole chain has only kept going thanks to the money of the young and uninformed. I would say I look forward to their second fire sale but I imagine even then the prices would be still too high

Hasn't MCV always been a bum licking entertainment retail publication?

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."
