Might trade in a couple of games at GAME soon, i know i won't get a huge amount but if it allows me to get Burnout Paradise remastered for under £15 then at least that's something.

That's another shop that I struggle to understand how it survived - rent for these shops can't be cheap and there can't be that many people buying the stuff surely?

We still have a GW store here, but it's only open 3-4 days a week operating on a skeleton crew. I think that's the general gist across the company.

One reappeared in my hometown after previously shutting down almost 20 years ago. With board and tabletop gaming at an all time high I can't imagine they're doing too badly.

The one here is often quite full, there is also a board game shop across the road that gets packed.

Games Workshop has been doing great since their change of management a couple of years ago - they invested in the player community and opened up proper dialogue with their customers, put resources into growing their main games, brought back specialist and gateway games, and the quality of their models is fantastic too.

They've seen growth in retail and trade channels in all regions, and their mail order and digital sales grew too. Sales, profits and share price have all soared. They finished last year with the best performing stock on the London market and entered the FTSE 250 - their factory couldn't keep up with demand for their products - pretty amazing success story really!

And all of this with the advent of 3-D printers which were supposed to sound the death knell for them with people printing miniatures at home. All in all an incredible turn around it has to be said.

There is a GW in a tiny little unit in Macclesfield. I was quite surprised when I saw it, hidden away on a back street in a really quiet area - only open a few days a week I think.

Looks like a cool enough place though. Quite surprising to have one open there when in so many busier areas Ive seen there isnt one anywhere to be found. I suppose it comes down to leases.

There's one on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, haven't been in years but they must be raking it in since I imagine the cost of the lease there must be ridiculous.

Time to wheel out this story yet again, but the one time I decided to impulse buy a retail game which was assassins creed black flag on ps3. £49 new.... take it to the counter - yeah we've run out m8, but we've got a second hand copy for £50 but it doesn't have the DLC code.

I had a similar story a few years ago with Darksiders 2 on Wii U, it was reduced to £20 went to buy it, only for it to be out of stock so they said we have a pre-owned version for £40. I said no and they were making out I was missing out on the deal of the year, went to the other Game store round the corner and got the new version for £20.

I decided to give Game another chance a few weeks ago and had a fairly gooseberry fool experience, not really sure why I'm surprised.

I went in and they had both The Last Guardian and Gravity Rush Remastered on PS4, new at £15 each which seemed a pretty good price to me. When I got home I opened up Gravity Rush and noticed the case was damaged and the disc itself had a massive scratch across it. Went back to complain that they'd clearly given me a used copy instead of a new one, but no, they'd unsealed a brand new game, put the box on the shelf (presumably after kicking it around first) and put the disc in a CD wallet (scratching it in the process). Then the manager tried to quibble with me over the returns policy because I'd remove Game's own seal from the box :lol:

Got my money back in the end but what a ridiculously stupid idea.
