Yeah. They just offer the same shitty prices and shitty service, but in a smellier environment, so will have the same underlying problems as Game anyway

Good.

They charge £42 for a game, when I could go to HMV or supermarket near it and get it for £5 less.

How much of the problem with the local shop managers refusing to believe there was "competition" on the high street?

I forgot they put their prices up to £42. :fp: I mean what sort of person pays £42 for a game in this economy, especially when everyone else does it cheaper. You would have to be a complete moron. A rich moron at that and how many rich morons do you know? Thats why game is going down the shitter.

Well, except for their "trade in last week's hit and get the flavour of the week for £5" style deals.

It's also £47.99 (360) and £49.99 (PS3) on Amazon though, so it's not just Game/Gamestation.

Why so expensive? That is a joke. Rugby games don't exactly fly of the shelves, but at that price you won't get many buy on impulse

They're very rare for some reason. I don't think anyone got many in from the start.

I'm currently temping for Game in Bristol Cribbs Causeway. The prices are ridiculous but people pay them. On COD release night we had a queue of around 250 people and HMV was open at the same time. People waited for up to 2 hours rather than get it with no queue (and cheaper) and HMV. The branch I work in is in the top 5 in the country in terms of revenue though, so I imagine the quieter games are where it suffers.

Really? We normally get controversy just with a forum Secret Santa, imagine if we were trying to run a nationwide chain of shops.

It easy using the pile them high, sell them cheap method after getting cheap bulk orders in and matching other stores and better rewards points. Bring back proper PC gaming sections and have knowledgeable staff.

It's certainly not the RRP prices they sell games at in-store that keeping them in business :fp:

No courier would be cheaper than Royal Mail, period!

The problem with Game is they refused to compete against the supermarkets who have been undercutting them on the high streets and refusing to compete against the online only stores like Shopto and Zavvi.

It's a tough position they are in, but people are still buying games, the sales of games in general is still phenomenal considering we're possibly going to enter a double dip recession. They don't understand that we don't want to pay £39.99 or more for a new release, and that the majority of us do not care for pre order bonuses.

Shape up or ship off!

This will not end well!

Personally I have some good ideas for them, if they want to really save money, they need to get rid of the gamestation brand or rebrand it completely. You could have Game for brand new gooseberry fool, and gamestation for pre-owned, I'd close up a few shops where there are more than 1 of each in the general vicinity. I'd retrain all the staff and get rid of the upselling model they rely on so much now as it drives customers away.
