One area Soffe singled as Game's strength was offering exclusive game 'edition' content, which is "fantastic for our customers and they clearly love that".

No. No we don't.

And it looks like one of the stores in our town will be closing as they're looking to have one per town, and that'll probably mean Gamestation getting the chop.

Yes. Their debts.

There's also percieved value. Why do you think news delivered from companies can alone send share values rocketing or diving? The better percieved value of your business, the more the shares will be worth (even if your debts and cash reserves/credit lines are the same).

Obviously hes got to tow the company line, but his arguments don't really stack up when compared to GameStop in the US.

They're over 8% UP over the last 12 months, if anything the retail sector in the States is far more competitive than it is in the UK. There's only so much blame you can place on market conditions and wider economy, GAME just isn't being well run.

Now, it takes a while to roll the technology out, but there will be that time when you can walk into a store and say, 'Have you got something from a year ago?' and it doesn't happen to have it because a couple of people bought it before you. Well the guy behind the counter can say, 'Well, I'll have it delivered to either here for you to pick up tomorrow, or we can get it posted to you or your work.'

Fantastic idea! Were this 1999 where the majority wouldn't have had internet access in their home. Or, more importantly, outdoors. 'Lets go into a bricks & mortar shop only to be told to visit the website. Should have strawberry floating stayed at home & bought it from Amazon!'

And I don't know what world GAME are living in, but any semi decent shop on the high-street, when asked, will get a product back in stock for you. Argos for example will send you a text. You'd think it was a GAME exclusive & that they've just changed the shopping landscape.

Even my little indie record shop in town have been doing that since the early 90s :lol:

If you wanted a vinyl, tape or whatever they'd order it in for you, even if it was a limited edition Japanese copy etc.

It'll just send more people online. Maybe to the Game site for a few times, but then they'll surely move on to other websites too...

That's probably what a lot of people will do now that the price has showed signs of life. It won't stop people dumping shares though when it hits a high.

There could also be a pile of shares owned by Game themselves, which has to be factored in. I dunno.

I remember being laughed out of Game when I wanted to trade a game in. Game only offered half the price of Argos who had just started doing tradeins on games.
The price of the game I wanted was the same in Game/Argos.

When I asked Game to match Argos they laughed and said 'Argos don't do tradeins' and even if they did, they wouldn't match it.

I've not been in since.

Debts wouldn't make a company worth more?

I was always of the belief company market capitalisation value was the amount of shares x share price.

3.47 million shares x 6p a share = £208,200.

I know there must be something major I'm missing... and I don't think it's perceived value.

Weird. I went in last week and they matched CEX's trade in price without even getting confirmation. (They offered £18, CEX were offering £22) I guess it depends on the store.
