I can't believe that is even a real tweet. How stupid must you be to tweet that out.

I remember there was a BBC show where you had to get fired as close to 3pm to win. Maybe somebody got employed on the GAME digital team for a new season of the show.

I mean also their website says £54.99? If you buy Fifa for £54.99 you are an idiot.

What seems to be poor I noticed, (which has always been poor in Game) is the pricing and size of their Preowned stock, was pitiful, and once again no working Demo Pod Units. There was many people in there, but just looking around before walking out again, presumably to order online or try CEX/Grainger Games

You definitely have to pre-order FIFA as well because copies sell out so quickly and they never have any in stock.

I have heard those GAME trade-in ads on channels like Magic and Heart, too. Don’t they offer really low value for stuff, though?

Of course, but i guess they're relying on the listener demographics not knowing that.

CEX are a bit better, plus they take films and CDs . Recently had a big clear out of games, DVD and Blu-ray movies. Picked up just over £100 cash.

Obviously a lot less than I originally paid, but it's £100 for stuff I'm never going to use again.

This is a beauty.

So, after becoming completely frustrated with the clusterfuck that is Windows Store I went into town this morning with the intent of buying a 500gb X1S.

After shopping around and discovering everywhere had sold out of that model I bit the bullet and went into Game who themselves only had the 1tb model with FH3 for £269.

I said I also wanted FM7 and an additional control pad and would bite if they threw in a £15 copy of Recore.

They refused to budge saying they couldn't authorise it. The manager stepped in and said the same, so I said why not call the area manager and get him to authorise the sale. "We can't do that" was the response.

"So your going just let over £300 walk out of the store over fifteen quid?" I asked, utterly bewildered.

"We can't authorise the discount" was the repeated response.

Chuckling in absolute amazement I left the store empty handed, and them a lost £300+ sale.

A quick phone call to Smyths Toys (a 20 minute walk) they had the 500gb FH3 bundle with Hotwheels DLC and put it to one side. On arriving at the store I discovered that the actual deal was the following:

500gb X1S with FH3
FIFA 18
An extra, official White S controller

£229!

I also bought FM7 for £41, taking the total sale to £272.

Traded in FIFA at CEX for £41 and picked up The Master Chief Collection, Recore and AC Syndicate.

Game are strawberry floating mugs.

I can't think of any high street stores that will haggle with you. I think you were daft expecting them to throw in extras personally.

I've known Game to price-match before (But for me it was waaaaay back in 2000), but I agree they're not going to give you a big discount on a bundle. Their margins on them will be pretty thin, so they're probably not able to take much (If anything) off.

The only high street store I know of that might haggle with you is a place like Currys, and even then only if you're also buying some kind of high margin add-on item like cables, or service plans/installations in which case they might knock some money off the Computer/TV/Appliance you're buying since the margin on those is practically strawberry float all anyway.
Back when I worked at Currys while I was at University, I think the profit on even higher price laptops was only something around £20.
