PostGame trade in - price match
by Cattanomics » Fri Jun 20, 2014 11:06 pm

I'm looking to trade in a load of 360 games and the console to put towards a PS4, I've checked CEX online and they'll give me £367 in vouchers for the lot.

Game say they'll beat trade in prices by £1, so would they offer me £368 and are they likely to match that price as Game's website say they'll give £198 in store credit?

I think GAME will only price match credit trade in rather than cash trade in.
They also wont actually guarantee it. I took an Xbox 360 copy of Alone in the Dark to CeX and they offered me £14. GAME offered me £1 and refused to price match because the difference was too much. Given the difference between those values, you'll probably experience the same issue.

GAME should match the trade in of CEX if there is a store within a one mile radius of the GAME store you visit. Based on what you've said, you should walk away with £368 on a GAME gift card unless the store manager suffers anal devastation at the thought of giving out so much credit for 360 games.

Yeah I'm in Canterbury and the stores are 1 minute apart. I'm looking for store credit to go towards a PS4 so hopefully they'll honour it.

I assume I'll need to take in some proof of CEX's prices?

A receipt listing all the trade in prices you would get if they will give you one. Just hope the staff don't refuse, I've gone into shops before (not cex but similar kinds of places) and been told no.

They will give you £1 more per game, not £1 on top of your £367.

So basically if they have the same offer as CEX you get nothing extra, but if CEX are offering more, they will add a pound to the CEX price.

Whenever I trade something in at my local store, the sales assistants check the prices on a computer in the back. Initially I did take a print out of CEX's offer but once I saw this happen I stopped doing that. If I were you, I'd go to CEX's web site, browse for each of the games you want to trade in, select the 'I want to sell this item' button and print out the basket showing the trade in values of all the games.

Ok, I dunno if they'll do that as I have over 40 games and they'll probably not want to spend all that time just to benefit me lol.

Go to CEX's website and add all the games to your trade in basket. Print it off.

Cheers I'll do that.

I usually just show them the website price on my phone. Saves the bother of printing anything out or *shudder* actually walking in to CEX.

It is the managers discretion on things like this though, just be polite and ask, hopefully won't be unlucky and get a guy who doesn't want to play ball.

They won't give you more trade in for a game than they sell that game for and if its close they'll probably refuse. This will also effect the 'beat other trade-ins by £1' offer.
