Metroid Prime is just as good as I remember. Probably the best game ever, absolutely love it.

If you've never played Skies, you're in for a massive treat. It looks dated, but the world still has an immense charm. It's one of the few RPGs that doesn't skim on open world exploration - you can pilot your ship anywhere and aren't just a big figure on a really block world map, like Golden Sun and Tales.

I've got Tales myself, but never played it. Skies is one of my favourite games ever though, even if I did only complete it a few months ago (I got up to the final boss but never actually did it - I was ridiculously levelled up and overpowered though). I put about 95 hours into the game, starting it in June 2003.

We should try and get it on GRPlayde. I'd play it again, seeing as I played the majority of the game six years ago.

The Gamecube was the last magical console I bought. It was also exciting as I got an import console so I purchased quite a few games before they came out in the UK. After Super Mario 64 the level of anticipation for Sunshine was so high and in many ways it fullfilled my expections, more than Galaxy did anyway probably because I loved the larger levels and actually felt motivated to get every single star/shine, something which I cannot be bothered to do with Galaxy!

I still buy games for this today, I was always more focused on my PS2 and never delved into the GC library. I'm making up for it now, and discovering some real treats. Of course, some are multiplatform games but I love the Gamecube controller, probably the most comfortable one I've ever held.

I sold my import Gamecube before I got the Wii, but did purchase a few UK games like Mario Sunshine and Zelda Windwaker, but must get round to getting a few others like Rogue Leader 2 and Luigis Mansion, which I never completed as I found the final boss too hard! :fp:

Games like F-Zero GX and Mario Kart Double Dash must also be purchased before all the second hand stock is gone in cex/GAME.

I've still got my copy of Mario Kark: Double Dash. I'm going to venture into town tomorrow to look for some old games (some PS2 ones as well).

I do that now and again and subsequently regret it as I play them once and then put them away not to be played again for months!

Thankfully I don't own a PS3, 360 or Wii, so I can put more time into the old games.

Thats some will power. To reexperience the PS1 to Dreamcast era would be pure magic. I strongly believe online gaming has taken the focus off single and multiplayer gaming.

I'm lucky that I'm a cheap bastard, so I'm willing to drop £300 on games over a year if it's going to net me tonnes of old ones at about £5 a pop, as I can see the totalled time playing being a lot longer. Paying the same amount for a console and a few games doesn't appeal to me just yet, but I will do so soon (that PS3 Slim looks mighty nice).

You know if you are enjoying what you are doing (and you clearly are) I would stay away from the current gen consoles until you have completed the last gen games. By that time you will have a whole new generation of great games to enjoy!

Yeah, the way I look at it, when I finally make the jump I'll be able to pick up all teh really enticing games I've had my eyes on for ages for peanuts.

Can't wait for my Gamecube shop tomorrow, hope there's a good one up for grabs. I'd like to get Chibi Robo if I can find a cheap enough copy. I need another GC memory card though.

TBH there are hardly any current gen games that match the quality of previous gen titles. Just too many of the current gen games are far too short when compared to the previous gens.

That is my primary fear of making the jump, hence why I'm looking into all the games that have much replay value or lengthy campaigns. Last GC game I bought (as I recall) was Viewtiful Joe, which I already own on PS2 but like I said, I prefer GC controller, and that has gotten plenty of playtime sunk into it. On its own it's not really long, but the challenge to play through again and the different characters keep my crawling back.

Yeah the replay value in games nowadays is not there and online gaming has replaced it. Personally I am not big into online gaming and would prefer developers make single player campaigns longer and more polished like they did before! Never got to experience Viewtiful Joe, heard it was quite difficult which is why I kept away from it.

I've got my Halloween all set up.
It's F-Zero GX night. Waaaay back in 2003, GX came out on the 31st... and I spent the entire night powering through this awesome game, whilst trick or treaters got ignored.

I'm gonna do it again this year seeing I recently picked up a second hand copy of the game for £4. Going proper retro and setting the GC up for it instead of playing it on the Wii.

I must find a copy of F-Zero, I stupidly decided not to get Luigi's Mansion at CEX the other day for £8, I might go back at the weekend and pick it up because for that prices its a bargain. The only problem is that I am going to have to get a bigger memory card!

I might restart Super Mario Sunshine again, it is definately more enjoyable to me than SM Galaxy, it just feels like a sequel to the best game ever SM64, whereas Galaxy went off on a different tangent altogether. I did restart Wind Waker a year ago and got about 3/4 through it but never went back to it. I would love to complete it again with all the areas of the map collected. Because of the PS2 I never did get round to completing a lot of Gamecube games back then, but it was still host to a lot of genuine AAA games.

Jungle Beat is something I should really go back and finish. Re-living Wind waker especially on Freelaoder with the US version will be something I might participate in soon! :P
