Yeah, it will do. HDTVs are usually dildoes at rescaling any image to HD that isn't prescaled by the hardware, and it's a problem that's only going to get worse as newer TV hardware starts pretending that any pre-HD ever existed.

The GC controller in general is amazing. Personally I wasn't willing to trade off the rumble for a limited battery life, especially not when the wire was plenty long enough to be comfortable.

Yeah i must admit I prefer using the wired controller than the Wavebird

The cube has such a fantastic library of games too! I've been contemplating doing a resi evil series cube run playing through 0 - 4 (just need to sort the HDtv issue first )

Great console with some truly great games, but it did look like a Fisher Price toy.

I'd take those Fisher Price aesthetics over any of the "next-gen" systems.

I never jumped onto the Gamecube train - I went down the Xbox route - but I did like the look of the "pearl white" 'cube.

I'm always wary of buying a white console (or anything electrical), though. My SNES has transitioned from white to a dull brown and now looks about a hundred years old. I'm not really up for using that nuclear / radiaoctive plastic whitener, unfortunately.

They're horrid looking to, I agree.

Speaking of the Cube on HD TVs, are any of those upscalers that'll take scart and output HDMI worth a damn? It's like someone's spread an even layer of vaseline over the screen.

Can't play Cube games on my TV, they look absolutely atrocious and emulation is hit and miss :( Such a shame as I have a wad of games that are being begged to be played again.

You know, the more I think about it, there's nothing really wrong with the Cube's look. It's just that the body is made of solid plastic. Granted, this confers to the machine a level of robustness more usually associated with armored vehicles than game consoles, but really all it "needs" is more "premium" looking materials.

This looked better, I will admit.

The Resi 4 bundle goes for a canny price on eBay these days provided it's still sealed. I remember when Gamestation were flogging them for £20.

Yeah, funny how the launch line-up was slated at the time.

The black ones don't.

I really like how neat they look, makes the PS2 and Xbox seem even uglier than they already are/were.

My GC collection. Still trying to find a copy of Viewtiful Joe 2, still kicking myself for letting the cheap one I saw on Ebay get away from me :(

I've still got my Gamecube knocking about somewhere. I use my Wii nowadays to play any GC games on (not many of them, I must admit).

I totally forgot that I used to have a black one but around 14 months after buying it, the fan conked out and it stopped working properly. We took it back to Game and, as most people tend to expect from a Nintendo console, they'd never heard of one packing in before and were happy to replace it despite being out of warranty. They only had purple ones in stock at the time though, so I ended up with that. Still works now, unsurprisingly
