It's interesting how different they all are compared to the EDGE 10s (GTA aside). I've played all of those games (except Demon's Souls) and all of them I remember being totally awestruck with at first, most of them I posted on here saying as much. But every single one of them I now look back at as a good game not a great game. Perhaps it's something to do with the tight review schedules and them not having time to let the hypey afterglow wear off before going to print. But to me a GamesTM 10 is a game that will really make you feel good whilst you're playing it, an EDGE 10 is a game that makes you rethink what games can do.

EDGE > GamesTM.

What are they? Are they EDGE's 10s or GamesTM's? Or both? Or just a list of awesome games? Because GTA4 is RUBBISH.

GamesTM Top 10s.

Everyone!

What I would say are 10s:

Gunstar Heroes
Metroid Prime
Resident Evil 4
Rez
Streets of Rage 2
Advance Wars
Shadow of the Colossus
Soul Calibur
F-Zero X
Lemmings
Goldeneye
Metropolis Street Racer

All my favourite games. 8-)

I'm usually the first person to put the boot in with GamesTM but this is hardly a Boiling Point level fiasco. OK, a faintly silly and poorly thought through sentence popped up in the Demon's Souls review. Shame. Now let's get on with our lives.

Also, if we're putting our pedantic hats on, I'm pretty sure that it's written "GamesTM" as opposed to "Games™".

The TM stands for "that matter" as opposed to "trademark"

...In the same way that F.E.A.R doesn't stand for First Encounter Assault Recon but, actually, the much better 'For Everything A Reason'?

Am I doing it right? 8-)

But every single one of them I now look back at as a good game not a great game.

That is just your familiarity with them I'm afraid.

Bioshock and Fallout 3 are two of the landmark games in videogame history, they totally deserve the 10 they received, looking back shows just how wrong Edge were about them, almost embarassingly so.

I agree. I'd personally want to play a GamesTM 10 rather than an Edge one. Their list of 10's that Shadow posted consists of some serious gems.

The way I see a GamesTM 10 is "This game is very special. For all it's faults, we love it beyond belief." Where as an EDGE is more "BZZZRT. THIS GAME CAN BE EMPERICALLY PROVEN TO BE GREAT."

The result is I sometimes find myself utterly confused with the games EDGE give 10s to.

Off topic but GTA4 Oscar worthy? GTFO. We all know GTA4 sucked balls, why deny it still?

Hope Ballad of Homo (sorry didn't wanna use gay, gay means happy) Tony is fun, the adverts remind me of Vice City.

Here's a video that explains why GTA4 is an EDGE 10:

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Odd isn't it, that you're the only person on here who still holds GTA4 in such esteem? I mean, all great games will split people into those that think they're great and those that think they're overrated, such is the nature of opinions, but it does seem as though you're the sole voice leaping to the defense of GTA every time. Odd.

I can see why you like it, but it wasn't a game that delivered. Certainly not a ten. Shitty locations, absolute shitty locations. The levels were horrid. Small and cramped, nowhere to climb, nothing to explore, it all looked nice vertically and that's about it. Very forgettable, I still remember the damn layout to Vice City. Missions were horrendously boring and scripted to strawberry float. I absolutely the "follow your target from a distance then wait for the order to kill them", why the strawberry float tell me to follow them and punish me for killing them early? I hated those scripted chase sequences.

GTA4 is probably miles better on the PC for the amount of fuckery you can do, but on the consoles? Piece of boring shite. You have to make your own fun, but you can't. As an openworld sandbox game I wouldn't even give it a ten. Certain elements of it are fantastic, like the physics engine I'd give a ten, the random moments that can happen with the pedestrians a 10/10, but the game as a whole? Rubbish. Not even vaguely interesting. You have to break away from the game to actually have some fun. Driving is dull as dishwater too.

The reason you can remember the layout to Vice City is because it was strawberry floating tiny! And the missions have always been a very small part of the GTA experience. And your comment about the driving is just plain bullshit.
