Pokemon White - I couldn't bring myself to finish it once I got to the desert ruins and I haven't played a new pokemon since.
Soul Claibur III - Completely lacked the magic of two and I never looked back after that. Thankfully VI is rebooting the seires so I'll give it a chance.
Halo 4 - I Never bought it and the completely flat reception the game got compared to Halo 3's unbelievable hype and momentum made me decide it wasn't a game I needed to play. This one applies to a lot of series where later games lacked the hype and love of the previous games.
Resident Evil 5 - Was a step back compared to 4 and I never once have been tempted to play 6 or revelations.

Barely even gave it a good look

I don't think Survive can kill anyone's interest in the Metal Gear series they know and love.

I mean it pretty much was the death of Metal Gear with Kojima gone

If the series has any future, it'll be remakes using new engines.

Need for Speed: The Run

EA have completely lost control of the direction of what was a massive franchise, and for me this is where it began to unravel. This for me was when the rot set in; the Most Wanted reboot and 2015 just didn't sit right with me and reminded me of sega with Sonic - throwing everything out and starting again each time to desperately try to stay relevant, even if that took some good ideas with it.

Now Payback is a microtransaction-infested "fee-to-pay" nightmare and I suspect its going to be a long time before they try again. I'm going back to the earlier games instead which I either played a long time ago or missed - Underground/2, Most Wanted, Carbon, ProStreet, Shift/2 etc. Looking at the differences between these games now, EA had the opportunity to do what MS has done with Forza several years before; alternating between the arcadey Underground/Most Wanted games and the more sim-focused Shift games to keep the series fresh and build on what worked in each. But then this is EA so they'd rather ride it into the ground instead.

Dynasty Warriors 9

I never played this, but from all reports and some amazing video footage this was a colossal ball-drop and cynical cash-grab in one - a boring and badly-made open world combined with shitty dlc practices. Sure the Warriors games are repetitive but they were good at what they did. This came to the open world genre several years too late while learning none of the lessons on the way, to the point that just thinking about the series now makes me quite apathetic.

Resistance 2 was s terrible sequel to a promising first game.

Mind you I did play Resistance 3, which was alright.

Uncharted 3 seemed pretty gooseberry fool after the wonders of Uncharted 2 and I'm in no rush to play 4.

God of War put me off playing any more God of War games, but I will play the latest iteration at some point and the remake of III is free on PSN Plus at the moment so I'll give that a go eventually.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

Need for Speed 2015
Not necessary a bad game just and boring, cringe worthy title that really showed that Ghost games don't know what to do with the franchise.

I can't think of anything, I would always try a game that was considered good even if I didn't like the previous iteration.

I've probably got a better list of games that I really liked but for some reason ignored the sequel.

Assassin's creed 3. I'd only played ac2 before that and thought it was brilliant, got about 10 hours in to 3 and was actually dreading playing it so I dropped it. I've not played one since although I have black flag (I was given a promo copy).

Assassin creed. I did enjoy 2 and black flag but I felt like I've actually seen it all before and it's not an experience I want to go again unlike other games where I don't mind having same experience again and again so decided to call it quits after finishing Black Flag.

On the flipside, Resistance 2 was the one that got me into the series, I keep hanging on for a new entry but given the end to 3 it looks unlikely (maybe a trip into Russia to see the Chimera's origins would work though?).

Can agree somewhat on Uncharted 3, I think 2 was the series' high point and 3 didn't feel up to scratch. Think 4 is the one that's killed my interest though, but in a good way - they got the ending just right and it seems like the perfect place to leave the series, so I'm not particularly fussed about playing Lost Legacy or any other alternative character spinoffs they go for.

Not a particular game as such more a mechanic that almost instantly kills any interest I may have in an upcoming game... two words "procedurally generated". I'm sure it's not really the case but I read "procedurally generated" as "we couldn't be arsed to design any proper levels so here's some random gooseberry fool kicked out by the computer".

Pokemon Black and White. I went from being deep into the competitive side of it with the introduction of online to not even completing the game. Maybe I just burned out on it with DPP. Otherwise I think most series I follow are still good or change things up often enough that I'll still keep an eye on it despite not being a big fan of certain ones. Like, I don't like the direction they took Zelda with BotW, but I'm not going to write it off. The ones I stopped following were more just casual drop offs due to something new pushing them aside as opposed to a sudden drop.

I thought this would be easy to answer, but I've actually struggled to come up with anything

I didn't like Halo 3 but wasn't exactly a mega fan of the series up until then, don't think I've actually Halo 2 come to think of it.

Mass Effect 3 has been mentioned plenty and I feel the same, I adored ME1 & ME2 and my playing of 3 just find of fizzled out and I never went back to it. Oh well.

Halo 2 - the first was great, but the rest were just endless corridors full of crap
Tony Hawks Pro Skater 4 - 3 was just amazing and was my first Gamecube game, funnily enough. This entry was the beginning of the end
Tekken 4 - 3 was great, but much like VF4, the series got stale
Gran Turismo 4 - GT3 was the last best game, then it got utterly mundane and I have been hoping for its revival ever since. Let it die.

Final Fantasy XIII - Super linear, so much cringe dialogue and a battle system that is just auto by default and you change between 6 pre-selected battle stances. :/

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 - Completely boring. Online sucked too. Went from ploughing hundreds of hours into the MW games online to just trading it in after a week or two.

Assassin's Creed: Unity - Had a wobble previously with 3 being gooseberry fool, before Black Flag brought it back... only for this to suck so hard. Graphics were stunning as an early PS4 game... but the rest was just so meh. Even Ubisoft seemed to take the hint as they stopped making it yearly after Syndicate the year after.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 - Probably played the PES series more than anything else on my PS2, had each new game on release date and adored all of them. And then the PS3 came along and this stunk. Been back to PES here and there in hope of finding the old magic... but it's just never came back for me. Sales of PES have fallen off a cliff too since the PS2/early PS3 days, and it's a shame, even if the newer releases are an improvement.

If you play the original Halo now it's also much too bogged down with endless corridors.

Final Fantasy X
Somehow Square managed to marry failure to innovate with ruining what they already had.

Halo 4
The Halo games completed their natural arc in Halo 3 so I was kind of sceptical about continuing the story on from there. Gameplay-wise it completely failed to aim the tight feeling controls of the original trilogy and had a range of levels that went from the boring to the frustrating.

Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire
Only so many times I can replay the same game with an ever increasing number of stats and gimmicks nailed on.

Mass Effect Andromeda
Bioware will need to work hard to get themselves out of the hole they are currently in. On the plus side, DA Inquisition was pretty decent so I have hopes for DA4.

The next best Resistance game after the original is Resistance: Retribution on the PSP, by Bend Studio...

...who also made Uncharted: Golden Abyss - although Uncharted 3 is better, I like them both!

AC for me also. 3 very nearly did it but I managed to get through the story and got black flag after the rave reviews, I bought it with the PS4 awhile after release as there wasn’t exactly a wealth of quality at the time and thoroughly enjoyed both it and rogue.

Unity absolutely killed all interest, I wouldn’t know where to start giving that game a dressing down. I even downloaded syndicate when it was free, played and enjoyed that but still no interest in going out and parting with money for origins or the new one.

Can’t remember the last cod I bought cut all ties with that sometime ago.

Dull story, awful characters & terrible combat. After spending many, many hours having a wonderful time playing FF7-10, this pretty much killed my love of all things Final Fantasy. Then XIII came along (with a plot so convoluted i had not a single idea of what was happening) a couple of years later and finished my interest off for good.

Personally one of my favourites of the series and reminded me of the mmo (ff11) but I do understand your views.

Resi 5, Halo 4, Perfect Dak Zero and Banjo Nutz and Bolts to name a few :dread:

PLAY | Persona 3 Reloaded [3h]
WATCH | Ted Lasso S3, HiJack S1, Red Dwarf S4, Dexter S2

I don't know if it counts if it's the last ever entry in a series, otherwise I would have named Fable 3.
