I was driving to work yesterday and was thinking about the mortgage and how I could trim expenses to pay it off a bit faster, and realised that once it is paid we'll probably be at the point we'd want to look for a bigger house and have to get another bigger mortgage. And then I realised that my major goal in life is to just run up the Tom Nook loan treadmill and that I'm so focused on it because of all the Animal Crossing I played when I was younger.

Nintendo tricked me to be financially responsible. And I was a bit annoyed by that. But at least I didnt try being a professional turnip trader.

So when have games tricked you into learning?

All games taught me that staying inside is better than going outside into the big bad world.

Thank you games.

Online gaming taught me that people are irredeemably horrible. Twitter and Facebook then confirmed it.

Mario Kart taught me life isn't fair, and you can do everything right but still get strawberry floated over at the last second

Rome Total War taught me loads of things from history. Plus I learnt about testudos from that game

Call of Duty/Battlefield/any other FPS really, all taught me that if I had become a soldier, I’d be dead very early on in battle

An ice cream selling game on the BBC Micro at school, the sneaky little sod of a title got me to do maths and basic accounting.

I used to play roller coaster tycoon a lot as a kid, my parents used to think it was teaching me about money and business. I'm not sure if it was, most of the time i spent telling the handy men not to mow the grass and chucking children in duck ponds to drown.

I did learn that people will pay much more for umbrella's when its raining heavily though.

Something something if you're running into enemies it means you're going in the right direction

Also Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego? I learnt a great deal about Roman plumbing and the signing of the declaration of independence

Minecraft I think is up there for me for the red stone and circuit stuff as well as WoW for the market place, used to make a fortune in gold trading stuff and buying up the market to control the price of certain ores and things.
