My brother got some Tao guys. They're fun to paint, like the airfix kits of my youth. But damn are they expensive.

I'm still a total fluff nut even after not playing for so many years. I usually get about 2 black library books a month, as well as any codex/Forge world books they release.

My brother had a good few space wolves. They're probably lying around here somewhere.

I used to like it but was never interested in it enough to learn the full rules. My brother and I just ended up making our own rules.

I don't think so.
Not when you factor in that a months sub to WH:O will cost the same as... a box of Assualt Squad Marines.

I know which I'd rather have.

My friend loves this stuff, he even went as far as making an animated parody series. He had to change the name because Games Workshop threated with a lawsuit, it's now called Plastic Hammer, you can watch the latest episode here if you're bored: http://www.vgreality.com/flash/view.php ... height=400

yeah I use to collect and play gorka-morka and 40k. Had a 2000 point blood angels army including a land raider (they were like £35-£40 if I remember rightly), 1500 point necron army, back when they only had like 5 different model types and no codex. Also had a few imperial guard and was about to start a tyranid army before me and my friends discovered alcohol. Was going to say we gave up when we discovered girls, but the girl i fancied throughout most of my schooling life's dad worked for games workshop and so she used to get me all the stuff i wanted half price! It also helps living about 20 minutes bike ride from games workshops main hq in Nottingham!

As many have said, when I am older and in a better position financially, I would love to start the hobby again as the whole experience of painting, collecting and battling the models is fun, also the fluff (stories) revolving around the game are so in depth and good it's unbelievable. I'm currently making my way through the horus heresy series of books (bought the first one cheap off play.com when i came across it while just browsing the sale book section, and thought I may as well give it ago), which are really quite good and i would recommend them highly to anyone looking for sci-fi books to read.

I never played it. Looked boring and incredibly nerdy. I've seen the people who go into Games Workshop.

Looks like you all caught up eventually and realised that it was shite.

I threw all of my Warhammer 40K away last year. Quite a lot of it too.

When I used to collect and paint them, I'd sometimes go to GW on a Sunday morning to play. I was 12ish and the guy in the shop elected me as the leader of the good side as he said mine were the best painted on the team. I felt so proud.

Now I just play Dawn of War instead.

This.

I saw the reinvention of the Orks, the launch of the Necrons (still got my free metal one with his Egyptian style neck decoration) the Dark Eldar, several new imperial guard regiments and was just losing interest when the Tau started appearing.
Been looking around some websites and I think I may start buying the odd model or two just to make up as I actually miss that aspect of it.
The Tau actually look quite good now, they just felt like GW was cashing in on the Japan anime culture craze when they were announced.

GW have changed over a lot of their range to plastic since the move to the more expensive white metal, they have some really cool new kits out too now like the Land Raider (waited years for a new one and it came out just as I was getting bored with it), an Imperial Guard Baneblade tank (nearly a foot long and yours for £60!) and next month they're finally, finally going to release a plastic space marine drop pod!

The mumak! i remember when that came out, it was about the time i left the franchise, I really wanted it, i bet it cost a fortune to paint!

I looked atthe GW site a few months ago, and they have gooseberry fool loads of the expansions for LOTR now.
