I know it may not be everyone's cup of tea but for me Destiny is a game will fall out of love with but come back to knowing I'll fall in love with all over again and play pretty much exclusively for weeks on end so what games do you fall out with and come back just wanting more?

Destiny is definitely the one. That game could do with some procedural content like diablo has. People I work with are all into their new guns every week and nag me to play, who cares about new guns if you've seen all there is in the game?

I'll come back for DLC 1.

I bought the game with the season pass as I'm just so convinced I'll stop and come back begging for more.

I don't know if this is in the spirit of the thread, but I'll be replaying both Odyssey and Breath of the Wild over Christmas, this time going for some high completion percentage (probably not 100% :slol: but as close as I can get).

I think I'll enjoy them even more second time through.

I was hoping for that with the adventures. Random content in those would have been amazing and I'm sure not that hard to implement. The public events as well could be more unpredictable with maybe a higher level event being added with only max level players allowed entry (maybe the game could filter instances to only allow max level characters?) and Lost Sectors could also be played about with to make them worth bothering with after you've discovered them.
The possibilities exist to make the game much better and not by doing anything radical like a complete world rebuild it's just a question of if they see fit to bother.

That's 100% in the spirit of the thread.
A game that you've 100% completed and then come back for more is a perfect example of what I'm talking about.
It's like the perfect drug that you can quit any time you like but come back to and just get completely entranced by all over again.

The Witcher 3. I bought the GOTY version and after coming back to it twice and about 60 hours I've never touched any of the expansion stuff and don't think I'm even most of the way through the main quest.

It'd be annoying if the game wasn't so good. It's like reading a book without knowing how thick it is.

I'm not sure if it counts, but i've definitely started a few games and gone "this is probably great, but i'm just not in the mood for something like this now." Dishonored is the main one that springs to mind, i have the first game with all the dlc and the second game kicking about but when i started it first i think i had recently finished another first person action game.

Dark Souls. If I hadn’t traded it in years ago I’d probably still be playing it now.

Right now, Final Fantasy XIV for me and Super Mario 64.

Am on break from XIV and it's been a while since my last playthrough on sm64 and I'm looking forward to replaying it again soon~

Also, any Picross games. I'd play lot of them, take break, come back and play a lot again. Even if it meant pending hours on one picross and never get anywhere, I don't mind . Love the games.

I did this with Tropical Freeze. Beat the main game, took a break, went back and did nearly all the extra stuff (haven't even started hard mode yet).

Dishonored is another one. This is my go to game on PC. The game is so densely designed that I find new ways to do things every playthrough. It's one of the best games out of last gen.

Oh and Resi 4 :datass:

I think that's the best way to play Destiny, dip in and out from week to week. I have friends at work who haven't played anything but Destiny since the first game was released. What on earth do they do?

Mario Kart and to some extent racing games in general for me. I can months without playing them and decide to have a couple of races and end up losing an hour doing a time trial.

Probably not in the spirit of the thread but I really didn't get Metroid Prime when it first came out and I used a guide. I went back to about 18 months later and it's now one of my favourite games ever.

*edit* I bought Doom for the Switch yesterday, can't wait to get stuck into that again.

There are a few games I'll obsessively play for hours on end then leave for months before coming back and doing the same again, at the moment its Grim Dawn which I hadn't touched since february but I've recently put 30+ hours into it.

I do the same with:

Civ V
Diablo III
XCOM 2
Peggle
Rollercoaster Tycoon - I can go years between plays and it still grabs my attention.

Overwatch.

I play intensely trying to improve, realise I'm actually really bad then quit for a few months. Then I'll try and get good again...etc etc

I never played a witcher game before but LOVE this. There are a few bits early on that I didn't get (trying to simulate a witcher 2 save through questions) but the lore of the game and general feel is very easy to pick up. I actually find the lore here more interesting than skyrim. Helps that the missions and writing are superb and combat is much better than skyrim too. Geralt is the James Bond of fantasy. Smooth with the ladies and a real hard bastard in a fight!

As a kid I only had blue which is why I still go back to that one, although now I have red, blue and yellow.

I do this with a lot of games actually. I tend to start, stick a good 20 hours or so in and then get bored. Bravely Second is a game I need to get back into (although I'm still a little bit annoyed that a second playthrough is required to get all the classes) and I'll be doing it with Final Fantasy XII when I get back from the Falkland Islands.
