Oh, go on, you big poof! Having said that, if you think the first ten minutes are scary, maybe you should just leave it alone...

I thought that was a good second part and it was great seeing some of the content that didn't make it into the games. I'd love for capo to use it all in a future, pre-rendered resi - perhaps more suited to the handheld format?

Ok, so once again I offer my vaguely in depth opinions.

Resident Evil 2.

As I mentioned before, my first RE experience actually was Resi 2, albeit the demo. That delicious segment comprising the run to the police station, all the way up to the S.T.A.R.S office and that confrontation with Ada...

Ok the full game was a touch different to that. Many people are inclined to belive that Resident Evil 2 is the best in the series, and to some extent I am inclined to agree with them. There is so much character in the Raccoon City P.D, and the underlying (hur hur) areas, each and every one accompanied by a fantastic score that hasn't really been bettered in the series. I can still remember so many pieces of music to this day.

Even now the Scenario A/B concept is a great innovation, allowing you to experience a slightly longer and more varied campaign simply by loading up your old save on the other disc, a great touch that could and should have been used more often in later games. The storyline too, for all its B-movie hamminess was great, and who couldn't help but feel a little bit sorry for William Birkin..evil genius that he was

I never did manage to complete The 4th Survivor though, as cool as it was playing as Hunk

Resident Evil 3.

I remember hotly anticipating my 15th birthday, when I would finally have the money to pick up a copy of Nemesis, all the arseholes at school had been playing it for a month...but not me :fp: Bastards. Needless to say I was not disappointed, I always wanted to see a little bit more of Raccoon City, of course RE3 helped up the panic levels by having that for most of the game you were chased around by an eight foot tall freak with tentacles coming out of his hands.

Who can forget the first time you heard "S.T.A.R.S.S.S.S.S..." and then crap yourself as you frantically decide which option to take. Yes Resi 3 had the much touted 'live selection' options, which at key points let you choose between two options for example-

"Fight with the monster"
"Run into the police station"

Of course if you chose to fight you could quickly run around, grab Brad Vickers' Stars card and then leg it inside, thereby negating the need to go hunt for your own. I loved little touches like that, and finding out which options helped, and which hindered you...say one stopped Nemesis appearing, only for him to turn up at a more inopportune moment, and one had you fight him straight away. Or simply turn tail of course...

Ok, the style of game was showing its age once Resident Evil 3 appeared, but it still has a great charm all of its own, perhaps not as good as Resident Evil 2, but more than worth checking out, especially to see the end of Raccoon City...

See, I didn't think that RE3 looked stale - it was on the PSOne, after all. I loved mixing ammo to requirements (I'll take plenty of Magnum bullets, please - nope, that's all, thanks) and the 'dodge' saved my bacon a few times, even if I could never figure out how to do it on demand...

RE3 is better than 2 in every way, save for 2's dual scenario aspects. It really is criminal that this system hasn't been used since - especially by capo themselves.

So, who else can say that they fought and killed that Nemesis scum EVERY SINGLE TIME HE DARED TO SHOW HIS UGLY MUG? Just me then? 8-)

The last time I replayed Resi 3 which I think was about a year ago, I still crapped myself every time Nemesis popped out, despite the fact I knew when and where it was going to happen. I think it was the music that really creeped me out - that big ominous note that plays at the start sends shivers down my spine:

Yo. Acquiring those handgun upgrade parts was less of an incentive than just having the satisfaction of blowing the trenchcoated-bastard all the way to kingdom come over and over again. Now, a real claim would be to say that you took him down using a knife in Mercenaries mode, the reward of doing so being an *obscene*amount of time added to the clock.

God, I really, really want to go back and play these now.

the music on resident evil 0 is fairly ominous aswell especialy on loud volume, that and the sound of movement or walking what with the fixed camera angles you dont know what to expect around the next corner, which makes it tense and very enjoyable to play :D i was wondering for those who have played it should i be better off taking the shotgun or hunting rifle? im thinking shotgun ;)

Pah I've never finished the EX battle mode from RE2 8-)

Oh yeah, I've never finished that either.

Never played as Tofu/Hunk either come to think of it or the Fourth Survivor minigame.

Finished the Mercenaries game though 8-)

It's both that note and the pulsing rhythm that gets me.

Epsiode 2 was great.

I still say 3 is better than 2, it has a better overall setting, the game has more relevance to the first, character wise, and it has Nemesis.

I cant see how Capcom could have changed the series so drastically, I cant wait for the next two, just watching the intros makes me all nostalgic. I love this franchise and now 5 is going to try and banish it from my memroy altogether.

I remember first loading up CV on the DC not knowing what to expect cause Id shielded myself from the press releases, when I saw Wesker in the background on the title screen I nearly wet myself.....

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

Did I read someplace that the RE2 Police Station is basically just the RE1 Mansion layout, but flipped?

Another video for fans of the series which I just found:

All of the leaked Resident Evil 1.5 footage.

It's obviously of variable quality seeing as the game was never released, but interesting nonetheless.

Another good video. Perhaps they spent a little too long on RE2, and not enough on RE3 but... meh.

REmake was covered in part 1. Part 3 looks to cover Code Veronica and RE Zero.

Ah, I love old school Resi (and, to be honest, 4 as well). It's odd though, as I only started with REmake, when things were starting to feel a bit retro. It was enough to make me buy all of the reissues on the GC, though admittedly I still haven't played 3 and CV. My friend borrowed them and I still haven't got them back. Bastard...

I played Resi 2 for the first time back in 2006 and it's one of those rare occurances where you play a retro game for the first time and enjoy it as if it were 1997. Normally, it's just nostalgia that makes you play old games again (for example, I bought Super Mario RPG, but can't warm to it as I didn't play it when it first came out), but Resi 2 actually survived on its own merits.

The music for that Tyrant encounter is the best in any videogame ever. He's actually really easy though - just make sure that you run anti-clockwise to avoid his right hand...

Assuming you're talking about the Retrospective, they already covered REmake in the first episode. Episode 3 is about Zero (shitfest) and Code: Veronica (awesome).

Me too, resident evil 1 scared the pants off me, especially the bit before you leave the house.
