I played Resi 2 for the first time back in 2006 and it's one of those rare occurances where you play a retro game for the first time and enjoy it as if it were 1997. Normally, it's just nostalgia that makes you play old games again (for example, I bought Super Mario RPG, but can't warm to it as I didn't play it when it first came out), but Resi 2 actually survived on its own merits.

Me too, resident evil 1 scared the pants off me, especially the bit before you leave the house.

I oved the first Resident Evil game, and when I got a PlayStation that first game I got it with it was Resi Director's Cut. My favourite character was Barry Burton, thanks to this nonsense talk. My mum thought Barry was a friend she had never met due to the amount of time me and my best mate talked about him! I was banned from taking the game to a friend's house as he had nightmares about the 'Keeper's Diary' when he came to mine to play it.

I imported a Japanese copy of Resident Evil 3 as I was desperate to play it - and managed to complete it without using a guide or knowing what on Earth was going on. I was convinced Chris was the Nemesis as a 'friend' claimed one of the files you pick up tell you this. Was over the moon with the Burton cameo.

I loved Barry so much I even bought the dismal Game Boy Color game Gaiden. I got quite far in it but then my save game corrupted and could not be bothered to go through the pain again.

A bit of a bland episode this week, with absolutely nothing of real value unearthed. I expected the original Zero to appear in some form, but was left disappointed.

That was genius, it just brings back great memories and I didnt realise how complex the story was (for a game anyway) Watching zero reminded me of how good it was too and how it did a stand up job of starting from the beginning.

What I wish however is that Wesker had either died before 4 or not become a bloddy superhuman monster cable of flitting from place to place in a milisecond.

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

It's far from the first time a game has featured a complex story, but the 32bit era was really the first time they started to become standard in the console market, probably because of the benefits of CD-ROM. Translations were and remained a real issue in the 8 and 16 bit eras simply because so much space was taken up by the game and - particuarly in Japanese games - there really wasn't space to do the original scripts justice when translated from space efficient japanese to english.

I believe you can actually see this illustrated most clearly in the PS1 vs the N64. The N64's catalogue of games was heavily dependent on the types of console games that the previous generations had proven popular - graphical games with little text, whereas the PS1's more popular games were much more effective at delivering story - particularly cinematic stories - than previous consoles had been. There were still large limitations of the architectures of those machine (the PSX, for example, had about 2megabytes of RAM IIRC - no more than an Amiga) but the large amount of backing storage was a definate boon over the significantly more expensive per megabyte cartridges.

I still possess RE0, I've played right through it, yet for some reason I can't remember a single second of what happened after the train scene.

IIRC, right after that it basically turned into Resident Evil 1, complete with faux mansion, which probably accounts for your lack of rememberance.

Oh, go on, you big poof! Having said that, if you think the first ten minutes are scary, maybe you should just leave it alone...

The furthest I've gotten ever is that sliding spike wall puzzle/spikey armour thing, where if you remove a piece of a puzzle it comes toward you. After that I ran back toward one of the save rooms through that (strawberry floating) mirror corridor, running over the corpse of a zombie I'd killed.

Which was red.

And facing the wrong way.

"Huh, must be a gl-OH MY strawberry floating CHRIST!!!!"

Not even doors could stop it. Thats about when I stopped.

The game went from the train (after about 20 mins on it lol) to a military facility/faux mansion, to a underground lab as per usual.

 , geniume lol there. Thats what happened to me.

''Why have I got lighter fluid in my inventory?''

''what is that zombie doing slumped in the corner, I swear it wasnt there earlier''

''up the stai....whats that noise, HOLY strawberry floating gooseberry fool,''

I actually dropped my pad when this happened and promptly died after thinking I would walk through this game due to my superior knowledge of the last one, its was clammy hands time again. That is the single most biggets thig Capcom ever did right in the RE games.

Go back to it, the feeling when they are gone is utter utter relief. :D

I have been quietly following this thread, it's really quite interesting seeing the opinions of some people. I've only ever played REmake and RE4, although I've played them both to death. These retrospectives are starting to help me understand the whole story a little better, and I might start a fresh game of REmake later and see if I can beat my time...

Even watching the footage of RE0 in that episode made me angry. Had to go away and get myself a cup of tea afterwards to calm the storm.

Also, going by the teaser section for the next installment, they seem to be looking at the lightgun games, with footage from PS2's Dead Aim. If they miss out the superior-but-still-not great Survivor for PS1, an email shall be written...

REmake has more tension and scares.

RE0 is more creepy, the bugs and stuff, I didnt like either.

But there are big spiders in both, but REmake has the edge I believe. If only for the crimson heads.

Weskers Report 1 was released on Dvd, free with Code: Veronica X on PS2.
Weskers Report 2 is on Capcoms website, but I'll be damned if i can find a link :(

ive been searching for this also but have had no luck however...on gamesfaqs there are 2 topics/files about weskers report 2 also i heard that the 2nd report that was on capcoms site was for members only :?:
at any rate theres 2 topics about the 2nd report (a transcription and translation) dunno if it is/from the real one however but maybe worth checking out :|

EDIT: oh and thanks glowy69, cant wait to play it too see how tough the crimson heads really are8-)

All that video has done is remind me that I still haven't finished Code Veronica X. I've had to restart several times because of various things. First time I didn't have anywhere near the ammo needed to off the Tyrant on the cargo plane, second time I got as far as rescuing Claire as Chris before my save file went walkies and I'm not entirely sure where I'm up to on my third playthrough.

I'll get that finished then I want another playthrough of RE0 since I've only finished that the once.
