I've literally just this minute finished reading "Masters Of Doom". A great look at the history and stories behind iD Software right up till the development of Doom 3. A phenomenal read from start to finish and I highly recommend it to anyone remotely interested in the company.

What I'm looking for now is something else. Ideally something focused on a specific company, or system, to get my teeth into.

I've alread read "Game Over", which I also loved, as well as Steven Pooles "Trigger Happy", so if anyone else can suggest something I'd be really grateful. :D

Totally. I think I flew through it in about three or four days.

Started reading Neuromance for the first time. It'll tide me over till I can think of something else to read.

Totally forgot about that, but I've got it and it's awesome. Well worth buying if you see it.

Too strawberry floating right. I'd love an updated version, reading about the decision making process that led to consoles after the Gamecube would be fasinating reading.

Looks like there's a new book out in a similar vein to Masters of Doom by the same author but looking at the rise of Rockstar and GTA. It's out March according to Amazon. If it's anything like MoD, I'll be getting it.

Nice. Masters of Doom was a great read and a version on Rockstar and GTA could be equally interesting.

If you like Nintendo: Pix'n'Love a french publisher are slowly getting round to translating their books into English.

They've only released History of Nintendo Vol. 1 so far (which was half decent), but here's what they have instore for next year:

Dunno if this counts but I quite enjoyed the first Halo novel Fall Of Reach.

Probably not of interest to most of you, but Hamlet on the Holodeck: The Future of Narrative in Cyberspace is a great read. Less a history of video games, more a speculation of digital (not just video game) stories in general and what tools and methods we have to make them.

Jacked is out this month. The next book by the guy who wrote Masters of Doom (David Kushner?). This one is all about GTA. MoD was a brilliant read so I'll probably pick it up.

I remember you saying that was coming out but I had completely forgotten about it. I'll be getting that one as soon as I can. :D

I'd love to get my hands on a copy of Raising the Bar but they go for insane prices nowadays. Last time I looked it was about £50 on ebay
