Again that's players. If we compare football players to cricket players, then I still think football would lose. Badly.

What is it about the way he runs that 'screams gay'?

Speculate how, as in privately? Obviously it would be wrong to do it in the media but I don't see what's immoral about speculating in this thread. For example, I reckon Chris Smalling is gay.

Gay people must speculate on other people's sexuality all the time when not in an environment where it's mostly gays. Of course you would.

In a small corner of the internet in which the subject will never see.

If you want to get offended on people's behalf have a look at the babe thread or celebrity death thread.

That'll come in handy for a future GRcade no context thread.

Generally, gay means a man who has sex with other men. What, about the way this particular man runs, makes you think of men having sex with other men?

Why does anyone care who is or isn’t gay?

I thought we got past this.

I like you son,you get what I'm on about. It's just harmless banter.

I could see John Terry liking willies,he tries a bit too hard to appear macho for my liking.

There’s a few good arguments for players coming out.

It would stop any chance of blackmailing them. It would allow them to live their lives without the fear of exposure. They could act as role models for kids who are discovering that they are gay. It might eventually help football become more inclusive - in the same way that amazing players like Cyrille Regis, Laurie Cunningham and John Barnes helped the acceptance of black players.

But (and it’s an important but!) coming out is totally the individuals choice. And I totally understand why players would not want to put themselves through all the gooseberry fool they would likely get.

Yeah, it's great having intelligent discussion instead of going 'hur hur I bet Harry Kane likes a big sausage up his arse oi oi bantz' like an insufferable bellend.

Well, it was speculation.

There's a massive endorsement deal waiting for the first big player to come out as gay. In all seriousness though as much as I would like to see more players coming out there is obviously still a very real homophobic element of football or else it would have happened by now, especially considering some of the other cultures represented in football which are far less tolerant to the gay community in particular, including some European countries and let's be honest a fair portion of the British population as well, football fans especially. Then again, people shouldn't have to come out, their private life shouldn't even be a factor but unfortunately football brings celebrity status and a lot of negative factors go with that.

I stand by my point that speculation is harmless though, environment considered.

My girlfriends dad has this thing, randomly commenting on when something or someone "is gay", like why does it matters? I think that's the problem, why men think it's this fascinating fact about someone else. Who gives a gooseberry fool. Some people raise these things in discussions even when sexuality has no relevance or context. I find it really weird. So if a group of people were speculating about whether some footballers were gay, I'd find that odd, because there's really nothing interesting about this fact unless you have a distaste about homosexuality.
