That’s enough for me thanks

Try the proper demo of RE7.

It really is the best thing on PSVR, I don't like horror things in general, definitely not a fan of scary things in general. But its worth putting that aside to play that game.

Nope :slol:

Anyway I have a bit of an issue caused by the PSVR HDMI box thing. Last night I decided to play Assassins Creed Origins (I.e. no VR) but left all the PSVR stuff in place and not switched on. Roughly every minute or so, my tv would go black but with sound continuing before coming back to the picture. This happened constantly.

I tried unplugging the headset but no difference. Turning off the AC supply to the PSVR took my picture away completely. In the end I completely disconnected the PSVR cabling and had a direct HDMI connection from my PS4 Pro to my TV using my original HDMI cable. This solved it.

From reading online, it appears that there is a known issue with using the supplied HDMI cable on your PSVR when connecting a Pro to a 4k TV. Seems the PSVR's HDMI cable is not HDCP 2.2 compliant.

So now I've got to buy the appropriate HDMI lead and hope that this fixes the issue. Otherwise it's going to be a pain in the ass connecting and disconnecting PSVR each time I want to play with or without VR

Anyone else had this?

I only had is with PS VR v1 when I tried to introduce an HDMI switcher to get around the HDR cable-swapping issue. I haven't had it with my PS VR v2.

Out of interest are you connected to a 4k tv at 3840/2160? I’ve just swapped some cables around so I have 2 identical HDMIs connected to the VR and still it goes black, although not as frequently. These cables are outputting at 3840/2160/60p according to the tv display. That’s HDCP 2.2 isn’t it? Or not?

I love tech but the constant changes in the HDMI quality over the years has made it more confusing and difficult to keep up.

Update. It appears that HDMI4 on my TV is MHL (whatever that means) and is the only one capable of true 4k even though the other HDMI sockets all show 3840/2160. So, I've temporarily switched my BT Ultra HD box and Ps4 connections around to see if this fixes it. But its an annoyance as BTs 4k is great. But I don't really watch that much anyway, and certainly less than I use my ps4. Hopefully this will resolve it.

Star Trek VR getting a (paid)TNG expansion!

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2018 ... -expansion

Galaxy Class starship! Borg! Romulans! New Ongoing mission types! New Bridge Station! £11.99!

Might be too little, too late, but when it was populated Bridge Crew was an absolute delight.

I'll probably pick this up.

So I'm planning to pick up the Starter Pack when it goes on sale from friday. I'm pretty excited to try watching some World Cup games in VR, but as for games, I'm not quite sure where to start. There's a bunch of stuff I definitely want eventually, but things like Superhot and Wipeout probably aren't the best games to start with. I've never experienced motion sickness playing games like FPS before, but I went to Florida last year and that Harry Potter ride at Universal that has you constantly changing direction and flying passed screens left me feeling awful!

So just wondering if anyone has recommendations for games to start out, or even websites that review PSVR games? I know the boxed or bigger name stuff gets reviewed in the usual places, but a lot of stuff just doesn't seem to get any attention at all. I think I'm actually more eager to try 'experience' type stuff to begin with rather than traditional games.

I notice a lot of stuff that comes recommended is horror, but I don't know if I could play those games in VR

You sound like me, in terms of motion tolerance.

I'm not great with 'free movement', no matter how slow. But one exception to this has been Playstation VR Worlds, which looks like it's bundled with the pack you're getting.
Make sure you get some move controllers if you don't have them.

The Invisible hours is an 'interactive movie' of sorts, with teleport movement. You unravel a murder by observing a house with a group of characters in it - you can move around freely and the action plays out in real time - so events are occurring in multiple locations. You might be watching a conversationa and hear a disturbance elsewhere - do you go and investigate, or stay, or find out where one of the other characters is. I loved it - and well worth the £11.99 offer price in my opinion.

Another kind of game you should be ok with is wave shooters - you're in a fixed position and stuff comes towards you to shoot. There's many flavours, check some reviews and see what takes your interest. I went for 'combined arms' or something, it was only £5 at the time, and great!

Tumble VR is another classic, and is often £4.

Statik is a puzzle game, very clever!

There is a load of demos on the store, so work through them and you'll get a good idea of what you can handle.

Driveclub made me sick in just a few seconds of driving. So I just know not to go there with that kind of game.

Skyrim with teleport is fine (although the game just doesn't click with me), but with free movement requires sick bucket for me.

Enjoy! I never regretted my purchase - and Ocean descent is a great one to demo to friends and family. Just be sure to video people as they do it!

Statik is on offer now for £5.79 if you are on PS+, offer runs for the next 20 minutes, so if you see this its well worth just buying it now if you can.

Another vote from me for Tumble, its often cheap in sales and there is a lot of content even at full price. I also really enjoyed Tethered, it's a god game and the addition of VR really gives you an interesting viewpoint.

Definitely check out the 2 demo 'disks' that are available on the site, there are about 10 or so games in each one and they give you a good idea of the kind of stuff available. There's also the Playroom VR which is free, some really fun stuff on there particularly with regards multiplayer.

But nothing quite wows like Rez or Wipeout and luckily both have demos. And there is nothing around that gives a better sense of scale and actually being in a world than Skyrim but it's at a price, either some motion sickness when using free movement or going with the less immersive option and using teleporting.

Its also well worth picking up a cheap copy of the original Battlefront so you can play the X-Wing VR mission.

Also everyone with a PSVR should at least try RE7, the Beginning Hour demo supports PSVR and its worth having the Kitchen demo as an experience to show people VR too I guess.

I've got Battlefront and definitely excited to try the VR mission. Rez is another one that's definitely on my list, and thinking about it, maybe it would actually be a pretty decent starter game, being on rails? Anyway, some of these recommendations really sound great, just the sort of thing I was after. I'd not even heard of Tumble and I've been looking into PSVR games for the last week.

I noticed it's not just the starter pack for £200, but you can get Wipeout or Gran Turismo with it.

I did this the other day and found it did trigger motion sickness in me.

It was great, but I had to stop a couple of times as I was getting 'hot face' which experience tells me precedes 'lunch revisited'

Get Wipeout. Even if it makes you hurl, it's worth the cleaning up afterwards. It just looks godly. I spent about 5 minutes just sitting on the starting grid looking around.

Looks like Game might be the place to go tomorrow. £200 for a Starter Pack plus your choice of GT Sport, Wipeout Omega Collection, Resident Evil 7 or Superhot VR. You can add a Move controller 2-pack for £50 too. You get the almost standard Now TV voucher as well. I want all those games but thinking I might actually start with GT Sport and then pick up Wipeout and Superhot once I've got my 'VR legs'. Went through the store tonight and downloaded the demo disc, plus some other free bits and pieces like the Kitchen demo, the Last Guardian Demo and Play Room VR.

Anyone tried watching 3D films through it? Never been a fan of 3D to be honest, but might look for one film just to experience the big screen effect.

Wipeout is regularly cheap on PSN sales and the VR patch is free.

I know some people who do and find it fine, but personally the resolution isn't high enough for it to be something I'd want to do.

Oh and if you want the Move controllers, they are £35.99 at Very (or £39.85 at Shopto if you want a more reliable source)…

Ended up buying it all at game. I know I could have saved £10 buying online but don't mind paying the extra for the instant gratification. Well, not quite instant as I have to get through the work day first. Got RE7, Superhot and Gran Turismo, will buy Batman VR and Tumble from the store when I get home.
