If there was a stream I'd watch, but I can't be arsed staring at a live blog for four hours. :?

EDIT: strawberry float it. I'll follow for an hour or so while I'm doing other stuff.

Wow. That's the whole thing. The rest of the time is for demonstrations. Short and sweet.

Current prototype: 120Hz, OLED display at 1920x1080.
PS4 designed to handle 120Hz output.
5.7 inch screen and 100 degree FOV
Latency less than 18ms (half the first prototype)
9 tracking LEDs (3 more than before)

"We feel 120hz is ideal for VR. And yes, PS4 was actually designed to handle native 120 FPS output which we haven't talked about publically in the past."

"Developers building games for VR are encourages to target 120 FPS. But for those looking for high graphics, we offer the option to render games at 60 FPS but output at 120 FPS"

"We made the headset easier to put on and take off with a quick release button"

"The headset supports the weight of the unit on the top of his head so there is no pressure on the face, as is the case with goggle designs"

Will launch by Q2 2016. :D
More shown at E3.

Cheeky Devlin, sweet update info.
Whilst I don't want to wait any longer, I guess I've been waiting for VR since being a kid so a little while longer won't matter. Sony like Oculus are doing the right thing in taking their time. Announcing it at GDC, getting developer feedback and improving it. That quote about 120 FPS output built in is intriguing... Now with a release date of the first half of 2016. It now is coming together as a real tangible product for mass market release. By the time of release it will build up a library of third-party software that will also be on other VR headsets. Morpheus' advantage is that it will be an accessory for a relatively low priced games console. But it needs a unique killer app.

Here's the pic of the updated VR unit:

That's a lower spec than what Occulus have been demoing lately isn't it? So the Morpheus will be the low end option, Occulus mid range and Steam VR high end?

It's just the current prototype so there is still room for upgrades. But I wouldn't imagine there will be any major changes, not if they plan to launch in roughly 1 year.

Holy strawberry float at that Deep screen knocking about of the shark attacking the cage. Looks very impressive while doing a bang up job of being nightmare fuel.

I think 1080p 120hz is all you can ask of the PS4.

No, you have the choice of using any pair of headphones you want though, like every other VR headset.

What about games that *are* built from the ground up and are at a similar graphical level of the tech demos? They are only tech demos but people trying them out seem willing to look beond their lower graphical oomph and seem to be enjoying the experience as a whole.

What does the 'H1' in the thread title refer to?
