I suggest buying a stick, placing it between your forehead and the floor, and going round and round for 30 seconds for the exact same feeling.

I imagine that something will be done to puke proof in the future with better tech. I never used to be able to play any first person games without losing my lunch before PlayStation 3 standard graphics. I can generally play them now with little to no vomit factor.

Rapidly-greying is Mediocre to Average at games :fp:

PSVR gets a permanent price drop to £259.99 and $299.99 in the US.

It's a hefty cut, dropping from $399 USD and £349.99. In the US, the bundle in question includes the headset, a PlayStation Camera and a digital copy of Doom VFR. In Europe, you get PlayStation VR Worlds instead of Doom. Sony's expecting a big year for PSVR, estimating that 130 more games will arrive for the platform by the end of 2018. As of last December, Sony's sold 2 million PS VR units - this might go some way toward shifting a few more.

Might be worth putting the new price in the OP, that's pretty big news.

My initial thought:

So when's the replacement coming out...

Honestly, I wouldn't expect a significant hardware revision before the PS5. In fact I'd expect the unveiling of the PS5 to also be the unveiling of PSVR2. At which point I'd expect a further price cut for the existing version to around £175-£200.

Next year at the earliest for it to be announced I'd think.

No point in Sony announcing/releasing PSVR2 at the same time as PS5 when the install base is 0.

Wait for PS5 sales to get to 40 million (3 years after release) and then launch it.

I seriously doubt that there will be a new model before the new generation. Better for the tech to significantly improve, ie higher res headset, new controllers, 3D space detection, wireless. In 3 years it will be more affordable. But saying that Sony did release the PS4 Pro!

I’m still hoping that the current PSVR can be used with the PS5.

As it's essentially just a screen, and the console does all the grunt work, that would be excellent. Even if a higher def/wireless version came along further down the line, you'd hope this would be an option.

Providing PS5 is backwards compatible with PS4 then I can't see any reason why PSVR and PS4 VR games won't work on PS5.

There won't be any PS5 games compatible with PSVR until PSVR2 comes out.

Just played Wipeout in VR and it was amazing, one of the best looking games I've played in VR

So, is the VR pack now on sale the original headset, or the one with HDR passthrough, or is it a case of both being out there and it’s pot luck which you get?

Hopefully that would also mean that it would magically become better when used with future hardware too!

Yeah if you're leaning towards getting it (And you can afford to get the move controllers as well) then I'd say go for it. Ultimately the resale value of them holds pretty well so you can always punt it on if it's not for you. But I'd definitely recommend trying as many different games with it as you can first.

I can see it happening. Devs would just need to patch their games to use the better hardware (Skyrim with a higher res and draw distance would be amazing) ála Xbox One X/PS4 Pro.
