It's similar to how Killzone was at the start. Let's hope they patch this too.

I was thinking about this today at work and I think a VR version of Rainbow 6 Siege could be pretty great.
They could even reinstate the pre-game planning mode that was dropped and have it as a god game type mode where people can plan out assaults and generally be a bit more social.

I think it could work and I don't think it would take that much effort to develop.

That's terrible design, especially when the information isn't communicated to you at all.

I'm sure it tells you when you go to quit the game.

Its not even that those are the only checkpoints either, because it doesn't throw you back that far if you die, its just that it doesn't save except for between levels.

Having said that the only time it caught me out was the first time I played and I didn't realise what broke up the levels (basically you only know a new level has started when you get to the sections where you are looking at what happened to the two scientists).

I have this problem in that I quit after the third base section which I assumed was save points and now I have to start from the beginning again.

I have this problem in that I quit after the third base section which I assumed was save points and now I have to start from the beginning again.

It happened to me at the end of the lava caves section and there's an encounter with multiple larger enemy types. I ended up getting killed and respawning at a checkpoint right before the encounter started, and was feeling a little unsettled in the stomach so I figured it was a good point to leave it since I'd clearly checkpointed right before the fight. So I quit the game to play Persona for a while, then when I came back I was suddenly back before even getting the shotgun and had to play the entire level over again. Oddly though, I still actually had the shotgun and didn't need to pick it up again so I was able to play the section before that with a weapon I wasn't supposed to have yet. So it's weird in that it saves some aspects of your progress and not others.

It's definitely something that needs to be patched. The respawn points should also be checkpoints that allow you to quit the game and resume it. Especially given that traversal is (understandably) fairly slow and retreading your steps can take a while.

I got to the first big boss tonight. Holy. strawberry floating. gooseberry fool. That was insane. When it appeared I actually stood there looking up, mouth shape. It looked so real.

Just imagine how much better it would look if you had a Pro :shifty: .

I've got one and I was actually out of breath after beating that first huge boss.

I really hope Sony have lots of VR news for E3 if they aren't going to have new hardware.

The Spider Man Homecoming PSVR is now on the store for free. I'm kind of disappointed though as it means it'll be very short like the King Kong 360 video instead of being something a bit cooler.

Edit: I just read a review and it sounds crap. Not going to waste my time.

It seems like a lot of money but maybe there is enough content to justify the cost.

Man that Spiderman VR experience is pretty bad.

I had huge trouble web slinging up the crane, I had the right web type equipped but unless your aim is almost pixel perfect then nothing happens and it seems as if you're doing something wrong. It was by complete accident that I was finally able to get up there.

I really wish VR games would stop having things that need to be done below waist level too. Makes playing games really awkward if you're sitting in a chair with an arm rest, or in the middle of a sofa, your move controllers just smack into things and you can't get into the right position without twisting your body quite awkwardly.

I played it on my Vive earlier and turned it off at the crane bit. Really gooseberry fool, I don't care if it's free, there's no excuse.

Give me a shout if you see me on and fancy some Farpoint multiplayer or Bridge Crew.
I also highly recommend Tumble VR as it's still one of the best games ever in VR. I also recommend I expect you to Die as it's a James Bond themed puzzler where you have to escape from various situation it puts you in.

The only reason I'm not playing more VR at the moment is it's just so bloody hot and wearing this thing is a tad uncomfortable.

Will do man. I like the sound of I expect you to die. That and "Keep talking and no one explodes" sound like good wee party games for when I've got mates round.

Should hopefully be able to get it set up and settled in ready for some multiplayer from Thursday I think so I'll keep an eye open.

Did any of you watch the Champions League final in VR? Or do any of you tend to watch stuff more in VR than normal?

I tried, couldn't get it to work - I think a lot of people had a similar experience.
