Good question.
I'll give it a try when I finally have it tomorrow.

Technically it works with every game since it has all the buttons of a regular dualshock 4 ;)

But no, the motion only works with Farpoint right now. Hopefully other games get patches to make use of it, Until Dawn Rush Of Blood would be especially awesome with it.

It's a fantastic controller, though. Feels really great in the hands. And unlike the Dualshock 4 it seems to have great build quality to it.

Yeah, I'd love an Aim patch for ROB. I'm getting Farpoint tomorrow as it went back into stock at ShopTo. Was a bit worried when it was sold out everywhere yesterday!

Played about 50 minutes of Farpoint so far.

Its just as awesome as it was in demo form. I did see mention that there was no turning in the standard control setup, obviously its true that by default the second stick doesn't do anything, but it isn't true that that means you can't turn with that control method. You just turn.

I think the game is best played standing up anyway. The only problem with that method is that you obviously can't turn right round and completely face the other direction because the controller has to be in range of the camera. But on the whole the game is designed so you never really have to do that. But yeah, turning is definitely possible without the second stick being active.

Farpoint is strawberry floating legit. Played about an hour. It's pretty slow going at the beginning, mostly just letting you awe at the environment but then it gets more and more actiony. The graphics are also the best I've seen in a PSVR game. I'm usually very disappointed in realistic-looking VR games but this looks pretty great.

Also, the aim controller is amazing. Looks and feels fantastic and is a joy to use. I end up walking around in-game holding the gun like this, such is my natural resting position.

I would make such a terrible soldier. :fp:

I thought it would work similar to Until Dawn Rush of Blood where there's a retucule or laser on-screen but it's awesome that you can hold the controller as you would a real gun and aim down the sights with the gun right up to your face (including closing one eye) and it works perfectly.

Image

It's hard to describe but it's such a cool effect when you aim down the sights. It works so strawberry floating well.

I dare anyone not to jump when the first spider monster leaps right at you :slol:

I also got no motion sickness from this. There are loads of turning options to choose from but the small step turn seemed to suit me the best. I tried proper full motion turning and immediately fell ill. I don't know how anyone can play like that and not feel dizzy.

One small thing of note, turning is automatically turned off by default and the game never prompts you to turn it on which is very strange. First thing you should do when you gain control on the planet is pause it and turn it on to your liking so you won't end up strafing sideways to the checkpoint like I did. :fp:

Yeah, that's why I had to strafe. It's probably fine if you're standing up.

I think it's worth turning on anyway just so you can have a look around & down over the cliffs and such. There's probably nothing there but it's nice to wander.

Whatever you do, don't wander down over the rocks at the cliffs at the start as there's no jump button to get back up. :fp:

I don't think the Aim controller would be very good for Until Dawn since that needs duel wielded move controllers.

Its best with dual wielded controllers but it doesn't need them. You can play with a standard PS4 controller and it locks your guns together I think.

Farpoint seems to be selling quite well which hopefully means the gun peripheral will get implemented into other games.

I've only played for 90 minutes or so but this is super fun - I can definitely see the Aim controller gaining traction over the coming year. Despite the game itself being pretty basic as FPSs go, everything's really well done and the feeling of holding a real object that maps to the gun in-game heightens the immersion massively.

It blows my mind to think/hope that in 5 years' time if VR is successful enough, we might be playing something like Battlefield in VR with a headset capable of 4K. Makes me want to continue to support experiments like Farpoint.

The next gen version of VR is going to be pretty great as by then the hardware should hopefully be available to manage 4K VR.

Played some more of Farpoint today. Think I'm about 2/3 of the way through. The damn shotgun :datass:

How good is the voice acting in this btw? The two that you are looking for are played so well that I look forward to the in-between missions cut-scenes just to see them interact with one another.

Myself and Pete are going co-op tonight so impressions of that tomorrow.

Tip for people playing Farpoint.

Play standing up.

Definitely the best control method.

Good, because I hate standing up to play VR games. I'm always worried I'll trip over the cable.

Really hope V2 of the PSVR is Wireless.

I've not tried it because I have no desire to, but I can't see any way that it can be half as immersive while sitting down as it is while standing up.

No need to worry about tripping over the cable, there's no need to move other than turning round a bit.
