I'm pretty excited to try watching some World Cup games in VR, but as for games, I'm not quite sure where to start. There's a bunch of stuff I definitely want eventually, but things like Superhot and Wipeout probably aren't the best games to start with. I've never experienced motion sickness playing games like FPS before, but I went to Florida last year and that Harry Potter ride at Universal that has you constantly changing direction and flying passed screens left me feeling awful!
So just wondering if anyone has recommendations for games to start out, or even websites that review PSVR games? I know the boxed or bigger name stuff gets reviewed in the usual places, but a lot of stuff just doesn't seem to get any attention at all. I think I'm actually more eager to try 'experience' type stuff to begin with rather than traditional games.
I notice a lot of stuff that comes recommended is horror, but I don't know if I could play those games in VR
You sound like me, in terms of motion tolerance.
I'm not great with 'free movement', no matter how slow. But one exception to this has been Playstation VR Worlds, which looks like it's bundled with the pack you're getting.
Make sure you get some move controllers if you don't have them.
The Invisible hours is an 'interactive movie' of sorts, with teleport movement. You unravel a murder by observing a house with a group of characters in it - you can move around freely and the action plays out in real time - so events are occurring in multiple locations. You might be watching a conversationa and hear a disturbance elsewhere - do you go and investigate, or stay, or find out where one of the other characters is. I loved it - and well worth the £11.99 offer price in my opinion.
Another kind of game you should be ok with is wave shooters - you're in a fixed position and stuff comes towards you to shoot. There's many flavours, check some reviews and see what takes your interest. I went for 'combined arms' or something, it was only £5 at the time, and great!
Tumble VR is another classic, and is often £4.
Statik is a puzzle game, very clever!
There is a load of demos on the store, so work through them and you'll get a good idea of what you can handle.
Driveclub made me sick in just a few seconds of driving. So I just know not to go there with that kind of game.
Skyrim with teleport is fine (although the game just doesn't click with me), but with free movement requires sick bucket for me.
Enjoy! I never regretted my purchase - and Ocean descent is a great one to demo to friends and family. Just be sure to video people as they do it!
