Some big discounts on the PSN store including Skyrim VR for £14.99 if you've got PS+ (£32.49 otherwise). That's a damn fine price.

Set this up last night. Only managed to squeeze in half an hour or so of VR Worlds because of the football, but my initial thoughts...

Set-up: so. many. cables. Pretty straightforward overall though. Took a bit of fiddling to get a decent fit with the headset but once it's on it's pretty comfortable.
Ocean Descent: this was a great introduction. Looked and sounded great, and is the perfect kind of experience to show off the technology. I was really impressed by this, and am looking forward to trying out the other modes on it tonight.
Danger Ball: again, very enjoyable. Looks good, and is responsive and easy to control.
London Heist: I only did the tutorial and shooting range mode on this, but was pretty decent. I feel like this would be better with the Move controllers, but worked well enough with the Dualshock. Will probably try the main mode tonight.
VR Luge: wasn't really a fan of this. Started to make me feel a bit odd for the first minute or so, but I got used to it. I think steering with your head just takes some adjusting to. :slol: I was also knackered and in a really hot room though (wearing the headset makes you feel hot too) and so that probably didn't help how I felt. Not sure I'd really go back to this though, just wasn't particularly enjoyable.

Going to try the Scavenger Odyssey tonight and perhaps some other demos. :toot:

How long to people tend to play something for using VR? Wonder whether it's something you need to build up time with and adjust to, and whether your eyes get tired more quickly than playing a game on the TV.

Scavenger Odyssey :dread: To date the only VR thing I've played that nearly made me hurl.

I haven't touched my VR for 2 weeks. Not cos I don't want to, but rather it's too hot to wear it at the mo.
Even with a fan blowing I'm sweating with the headset on

Next version must have better ventilation

A very good day to you.

Here's a question: how can I tell which version of PSVR I'm buying?

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

Great to see you back in GR, Octo! Uhm, I'll leave your PSVR question for the experts, though.

Hi Jawa, I figured it out. It's a bit of a minefield let me tell you. There are a great many Amazon Warehouse deals for PSVR. I could pick up the 2nd generation + camera for about 230 Euro (in 'Good' condition).

I guess a lot of people tried it, threw up and sent it back. I'm not sure I want a 2nd hand PSVR though...

You can get a brand new V2 kit for £200, which is around €230 I think..?

I played Scavenger Odyssey...it did make me feel a bit odd. :slol: The only time I get to play though is late at night when I'm knackered, so it could be that I'm just tired (which combined with VR probably isn't a great combination) and/or the heat in my flat (has been about 26 most nights) and wearing the headset doesn't help with that.

My only gripe so far is probably a bit of an unfair one, but everything has this fuzzy/blurry look to it. Not massively so, but enough that I find it distracting. I understand why, and the limitations of the hardware and such, but it spoils the immersion somewhat when you're looking at a computer right next to you and you can barely read what's on the screen because it's so blurry. I wondered whether a PS4 Pro would've helped but reading about it online it doesn't sound like it makes much difference.

1: Is that the camera bundle?
2: Where?

I bought one last week (V2 w/camera and VR Worlds) for £199.99 from ShopTo (on their eBay store).

Ultra Wings is well worth the current sale price. Very simple, but just like Pilot Wings 64, it gets away with it because it's a great introduction to a new technology.

It looks like great fun but I can see me recycling lunch over it.

Is this a general VR thread or do Oculus fanboys need to leave? :Shifty:

It's for everyone!

Talk of what's happening in the world of Oculus or VIVE hardware may have a bearing on PSVR and vice-versa. Three separate platforms that share a common goal of establishing VR as an immersive gaming and entertainment platform.

It might be worth having a general VR Chat thread (Or changing this one into that) as I only ever see the PSVR thread showing up anyway.

Started Skyrim VR the other night - its great! I found the DS4 controls to be far more acceptable than the move ones, even with all the revisions that have been made. Not being able to use hot slots on the move controllers was the final straw for me.

Revisiting Skyrim after 6 years is kinda surreal. I forgot just how many quests are made available to you.

Now im in the process of deciding whether to move my PS4 Pro upstairs to where my VR set up is (and where i want it to remain), or whether to stick with playing PSVR games on an OG PS4. Everything i hear suggests that Skyrim gets a massive graphical boost on the PS4 pro.....
