Noy yet, Drum.

They've done... Commodore 64, Commodore Amiga, NES, SNES, ZX Spectrum and now Master System. I hope that they do GameBoy, Mega Drive, N64, PlayStation and Xbox :-).

There is a good N64 book called Nintendo 64 Anthology. It's currently out of stock at Amazon, but it's worth looking out for.

EDIT: But the Collector's Edition is available at Funstock.

And that's it! Funded to the tune of circa £116k. I can't wait for the book to launch in February :-).

I own this book. It's great, but has very clearly been translated from another language*, with all the odd translations and strange spellings that come from that.

*French.

Yeah, the translation is a little weak in places, which is a shame as the book is very comprehensive. It's the work of one guy and, although I don't necessarily agree with all of his game ratings, it remains a good read :-).

Not that retro, but in preparation for Wario Gold, I dug my copy of Twisted for the GBA out and fired up my DS (battery still in green after being sat for years). Was pleasantly surprised to find the rumble motor still worked and all saves in tact. Tri wing screw driver placed back in draw, no need for action.

I liked the custom music capability of the original Xbox. I remember copying a few music CDs to the hard drive and playing the tracks in Grand Theft Auto  .

Currently been alternating between Banjo Tooie on 360, which has finally clicked with me, and negotiating the Brazilian leagues as the mighty Bangu on Championship Manager 01/02.

Ive been having a blast through Rare Replay, some of the older games are utterly inpenetrable, I dont know if its just badly mapped controls or what but theyre borderline impossible. The N64 games are also a bit gooseberry fool but thats more because theyre mapping such a werid controller layout to a modern one so thats a little understandable. Been mostly playing Blast Corps and Conker at the moment, I think Ill stick with them and finish them off for nostaligias sake.

I got quite into Banjo Tooie a while back, having played it for the first time, but then I got to a particular level and it just killed my interest. I'd like to get every jiggy and the other items but it just got too tedious. Keep threatening to go back to it and finish it off, but it's not an appealing thought. :(

I always felt it was just too much game, I love Banjo Kazooie and Nuts and Bolts, did everything I possibly could in both of them but every time Ive played Tooie I reach a point where I just run out of steam. I cant put my finger on why exactly, I thinks its probably a little bit of everything combining to just be overwhelming.

This is a very exciting development because, if you've managed to get into Banjo-Tooie, that means there's hope for you with greatest-platformer-on-the-N64... Donkey Kong 64! :toot:

Please do keep us (or at least me) up to date with your B-T progress. God, I loved that game. Not as much as its predecessor or DK64, obviously, but still.

I tried getting into Banjo Tooie but gave up sometime during the play and again gave up few times, only finally finished it fully when it's on BC for Xbox One.

It's good game but compared to Kazooie there's just too many to collect and the levels doesn't feel great as original. That being said it's still fantastic platformer, so I'm happy I managed to 100% it

I don't fancy my chances with DK64 as I no longer own a copy of the game. So unless an N64 Mini appears, and it happens to have that game in its library, then I'll not be playing that again. Just far too much drawn out collect then backtrack for my liking.

I never played Tooie at the time (which is bizarre considering how much we loved the original) but maybe eight years ago or so I ended up getting an N64 cart only copy. This was back when I kept changing my mind as to whether I wanted to try and re build my N64 collection or not having traded it all in many years previously (that's a story for another day, and one I'm sure I've recounted here before, possibly several times). So my copy of Tooie eventually went back to the shops (along with a lovely clear ice blue console. :-( )

A few years after that (and a few years ago now) I got both games downloaded on 360. I sped through the original on pure nostalgia alone then used that momentum to give the sequel another go. I perhaps got a little further than I had on N64, still frustrated by the scale and shameless backtracking (Witchyworld in particular) and eventually I was so peeved with the swimming controls in Jolly Roger's Lagoon that I again left it at that.

Only to now pick it up again several years later, bizarrely. Reason being I finally played Yooka-Laylee having backed the project on Kickstarter. I had a Steam copy but no decent PC to play it on. That changed recently and I was able to run a (fairly lo-res) version on a laptop with a 360 pad plugged in (how disappointing that the game doesn't support other USB controllers).

The game is entirely playable, of course, and it feels like Banjo Kazooie... kind of. You get this very definite sense that feeling like Banjo was the aim of the project - and whether that created a game that was FUN or not was relatively secondary. I just feel no impetus to carry on or to try and progress. Disappointing, obviously, but that's how I feel about Y-L. I'm fully behind the concept... but having played the end result, I no longer see the point.

But the daft thing is, having that little bit of my appetite whetted by that game led me back to a quick blast on B-T when I had a free half hour and (I kid you not) couldn't be bothered deciding which disc to play so I simply went for a game that's installed on the console, and I don't have many!

Since then I've played quite a lot of Tooie. It's a sequel unlike any you get nowadays of course; the difficulty and ambition of the levels suggest that you are literally picking up where B-K left off. It's as if they simply extended the length of the original game by 8 additional, increasingly harder, levels. But Terrydactyland (shades of Click Clock Wood IMO) and Grunty Industries are easily the best levels of the game so far and I've really enjoyed them. (I've unlocked Hailfire Peaks too but TBH I'm a bit overwhelmed by the size and scale...)

It’s mental that the biggest criticism of BT appears to be that there’s too much to do. I understand it of course, but I personally love it.

Oh I know its nuts, especially when I love things like Syrim and Xenoblade for giving you so much to do but there was something about the Tooie stuff that I didnt enjoy. I am toying with the idea of replaying it though now that I have it on Rare Replay.
