Saw this today.

And I thought the Switch was expensive for a Nintendo console.

Edit: I reckon if we ever do see an N64 Mini, the extra F-Zero X stuff will be on there, as a "previously unreleased" seller, much like Starfox 2 with the Mini SNES.

Talking of expensive, I just spent the last of my holiday fund on one more SNES game - Secret of Mana :)

A true classic action RPG, and I actually completed it back in the day. Took me about a year though!

It's a shame the sequel never got a western release. Instead we got thr US developed Secret of Evermore :|

Ouch! I got a complete in box copy from GameStation about 15/16 years ago for around £50-60. It was before retro prices got really silly I guess as I sold it back to them a few years later for £80.

In MGS news, I played for an hour or so earlier. Fought Ninja and just got to that Mantis.

My favourite running subtle sub-plot of this game is how Snake ALWAYS says the following when he meets someone new:

Hey, you're *that guy* right?

It's uncanny. He did it with the DARPA guy, the old bloke who was tied up, and the scientist bloke.

:toot:

I have gone over the top in the past few months...spent way more on 3 games than I ever have, and I could have bought a Switch and 3 games for that amount. :fp:

That really is it. No more.

I always look forward to this thread when I see he's posted in it. I imagine Andy living in a rundown caravan, but surrounded by an immaculate SNES collection!

On a Sonic kick. S3+K up to flying battery. There are revisionists who say that Sonic was never good. Bullshit. This game owns.

Utter shite - Sonic is pretty much the epitome of simple but effective gameplay.

Finished. Save scummed like mad using an emulator, not that it's super hard just couldn't be arsed redoing the same bits. Anyway it's amazing but Mania is the new king.

MGS update.

Managed to beat that Psychic Mantis. Good fight but now I've run into FOXHOUND's sniper and Emmerich wants me to make my way back to the room with the tank. I'm sure I remember a conversation with him where he offered to deliver me weapons and ammo if I needed it... Useless bollock.

Finally got my hands on a CRT, and now have my Playstation and Xbox set up next to it. :datass: Coincidentally, Metal Gear Solid will probably be the first game I play through on it. Next step will be to get my N64 set up there as well. :toot:

Been trying to find the best way to play FFVI and settled on GBA, albeit it that's not an easy one to track down. CEX had some in stock, and sadly had a very convincing American fake turn up today. Only way to tell the difference was the internal board (looked very amateurish) which also had a battery (this game shouldn't). Have ordered another to see if I have anymore luck.

I've got it on PS1, but the conversion is just so pants (smaller than 4:3, slow load times etc). Frustratingly it's on the Japanese Wii U eshop, but not the EU one. Gamepad play would be pretty good (you can get it on Wii eshop then on Wii U, but can't play direct on gamepad etc).

Who would have thought it would be so difficult to play a decent version of a game?

I suspect after all this it will come out on Switch not long after I finally get going on it... (if Nintendo decide to sort out some kind of coherent retro game strategy...)

Sounds like one I'd just emulate to be honest. Plug a PS3 controller directly into a raspberry pi and you won't be able to tell the difference, you can even play it through composite if you want an authentic experience.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

When I buy a GBA I'm going to feel no guilt in getting a flash cart. The number of fakes out there is ridiculous I'd rather give someone like krikzz my money than a bootlegger trying to pass fakes as genuine.
