Took a visit to Level Up in Liverpool, it's very hidden away but they had a fair selection of retro games, a few shelves and cabinets full, going from Commodore to PS3

Picked up some carts. Sports games for GB and N64. Double Wave Race :datass:

That looks great, Hypes - it's so cool to see evidence of GRcadians traveling out into the wild in the hunt for videogames :toot: . I still like Tennis and Golf on the GameBoy; although very simple, they remain fun to play!

I've always like that Golf on GB doesn't explicitly state Mario Golf but it's obviously Mario and Luigi in it.

It's quite good. Really slow going though.

Wasn't NES Open Tournament Golf like that too?

EDIT: Turns out that was actually called Mario Open Golf in Japan.

Can't really imagine a game being released called "Football" anymore.

That sounds really indie hipsterish.

I actually came up with a flash of creative visions for the branding of a game called "F.P.S." that harks back to Quake/Unreal/Doom all in one glorious campaign.

I remember that a pal who owned a C16 had a couple of games called "Shoot It" and "Climb It" by Tynesoft  .

There's a game on Wii U by this shovelware arsedev called "Shoot the Ball".

All their game titles are in ALL CAPS.

If you've been spending around fifty to seventy quid on a boxed SNES game then that seems reasonable considering you could easily pay that for downloading a new game / plus season pass on the console digital stores.

You know, I've slipped out of the retro gaming scene. My gear is in cupboards and not easily accessible whilst I've barely bought a retro title in the last five years. I still like the scene but I'm on the periphery at the moment and so I like reading about stuff that you guys are picking up!

Yeap - mint condition Actraiser...! Well, as good as I could get - a few tiny marks, but nothing that will bother me.

I'm completely the opposite. I have lost all interest in new games, and am 100% focused on the past :toot:

There's something I love about the old fashioned clunky cartridges...Plus, for me, the simpler the game, the better. I can only cope with a few buttons :toot:

I now have about 60 NES games, 32 SNES games and 15 N64 games. :)

Yeah, I can understand that feeling, dude. I enjoy modern games but, sometimes, it almost feels like hard work to learn the controls  .

That sounds like an excellent collection, Andy, and it's good to hear that your N64 set is expanding!

I've never seen one of these before... a SNES / NES Test Station!

I often take a look at TheGebs24 channel on YouTube; Gemma does some great vids.

So I took a stroll into that independent shop I mentioned a couple of pages back on my lunch break today. They had a couple of cases of retro games, mainly GBA and DS but sadly nothing that interested me. The shop was more of a CEX-lite that also did phone repairs so I don't think it's got much to offer in terms of games, bit disappointing really.

I've also had to accept defeat in my quest for a Saturn bundle on eBay, been outbid on 3 bundles and I just can't justify spending what they keep going for (north of £130). I'm going to have to focus on building libraries for the consoles I already own and then invest in consoles that I don't have yet.

I'll be reluctantly having a retro games and DVD clearout soon so I'll stick everything in the trading post before it goes on Ebay/charity shop.

It'll be mainly PS2, Xbox and GBA stuff (including hardware but there's a few Saturn and Dreamcast games too.

I've been on the lookout for a CRT TV for a while now, but don't have masses of space so was thinking a 21" or 28" max. Real bitch to find one locally though, or one that people aren't wanting insane money for.

Then lo and behold a colleague has a Sony WEGA KV32FQ86U 32" that they want rid of. She gave me some specs though and it's strawberry floating massive. :dread: :( I'd barely have the room for it. Any good places to find CRT TVs that anyone knows of? Or is it just a case of scouring Gumtree/Freecycle/eBay for the right one?

I stumbled across a great retro shop in Swindon, of all places, last weekend. It's hidden away in the back of a music shop but they have a great selection. Amongst the usual suspects I saw original Neo Geo consoles and games, Japanese N64s, a Vectrex, that weird Panasonic Gamecube thing... loads!

Seems to be a passion project that doesn't quite have the funds for big premises. Go have a look if you're in the area: https://www.facebook.com/RETROGAMEZHQ

(There's a good record shop in the same unit. Got a great original copy of Scott Walker's second solo album for about a tenner. Nice.)

That looks like a great little Alladin's cave. Nice to see that the owner is passionate, squashed into the back of some other shop, lol. Seems genuinely legit.

If you have a good enough collection, I suppose it isn't a massive stretch for someone with business nous to open an indie shop. The dream for some people. But I'd probably lose my mind one day feeling surrounded by towers of valuable stuff no-one will buy, a museum etc.. so I'll stick to creative made to order (no stock!!).

I think just a case of scouring ebay etc. to be honest, I found a fantastic 21" Trinitron for local pickup and I think it cost me about £8. Ideal for my use, I'd looked regularly for a while before something came up though.
