Hello retro fans.

Bought Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath last week but haven't got round to starting it yet. I got it when it first came out but didn't get very far, for some reason.

Then you get people who reclaim GC isn't retro. I agree with you though. Funny how Diablo II is 12 years old game yet is very playable to this day.

Bought Galleon for £0.01. Okay, £2.04 including postage. I always thought that even though it could have done with perhaps a bit more polish it was such an underrated game at the time. Had a quick hour while tea was cooking and I'm surprised how well it stands up today and in fact would say it's far better than I remember, although the controls are a tad wonky and take a bit of getting used to.



..and I downloaded Sly 2 on PSN.



I've got the next three days off and so I'll be spending late evenings playing these two.

I had Diablo 1 and was put off from buying any more as it got really tedious near the end. You just went down and down and down.

Diablo 2's more variety as you have more than one setting; instead of going down and down you actually are thrown into variety of environments to explore - obviously, there's dungeons but nowhere like Diablo 1, most are just 2 or 3 floors for you to explore before going outside again.

I'd say give Diablo 1 a miss; and go onto Diablo 2. But if you have good patience then Diablo 1 might be worth a look.

The GC is in kind of a wierd place, since 99% of it's games were perfectly playable on a Wii up until very recently. (I believe the latest revision of the Wii finally does away with the legacy ports and suchlike required to natively support GC games?)

So while the HARDWARE is undeniably retro, it's software wasn't, quite yet.

Though by that logic, very little PC software could be considered retro.

Do you mean the latest hardware (i.e. the new ones being sold as part of the cheapo console bundles etc.) or the latest software update? Cos if it's the latter I'm not going to install it...

Man, Dark Alliance and Baldurs Gate shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence.

Don't get me wrong, Dark Alliance a perfectly respectable console ARPG, but any attempt to equate the two series is just going to end in tears for somebody.
