Ahah oh man, it took me a while to get an SP and in retrospect I don't know how I managed. I had a light add on for my original GBA but of course it reflected off the screen et al.

Amazing game library though

Been watching a few review videos of the new Sega Genesis/Mega Drive retro console by AtGames, called the Flashback....and it's as bad as all the previous gooseberry fool attempts sadly :(

85 games, none of them being Streets of Rage 1/2/3, huge amount of shovelware bullshit just to pad out the numbers, crap controllers that take AAA batteries and have poor feedback/input, ropey emulation, cheap plasticy design etc etc etc

Disheartening. You'd think Sega would look at the NES Mini and see how crazy popular it was, see the SNES Mini and see how crazy popular that's going to be, and just decide to make a decent machine that has good emulation, decent build quality and a catalogue of games that's about quality not quantity. They shouldn't be farming it out to AtGames anymore, they're just terrible.

Ah well, maybe next time (but probably not).

Yeah, that's pretty much how I feel about it, Preezy. I love the idea of a MS Mini and a MD Mini... but not in the kind of cheap, poor-quality format that Sega has licensed out for the past fifteen years or so.

Playing A Link to the Past. This game is timeless. The art holds up really well.

That Sega thing is a shame but it sounds like AT games have a history of being crap. How they managed to have bad mega drive emulation with stuttering in 2017 I have no idea.

I've decided to start picking up some retro titles. I'm basically buying them from my list of Retro Monday games so that I can own all that I play. It's a bit weird, but hey, it gives me a list to buy stuff. Some gooseberry fool is expensive though.

Buying retro stuff can be a pretty expensive hobby nowdays, Pedz. Almost as crazy as buying new digital games  .

Yeah, I don't know own about that. Look at how much Mega Man X costs  though I'd likely buy it unboxed, not in as good as new condition if I got it. Also I doubt I'll get every game in there, but you know it's somewhere to start.

I've finally managed to find a CRT TV, and so the temptation to start buying and collecting loads of retro games and consoles is higher than ever. :dread:

Although having said that, picking up an NES mini - and the imminent arrival of the SNES mini - has helped quench my thirst somewhat for retro goodness.

I picked up a copy of Metal Gear Solid and it looks horrendous on my 40 inch TV. My component to HDMI upscaler doesn't seem to work with Playstation games (via the PS2) and so I might just hook my original Playstation up to the CRT and play my PS games on there. I've got Future Cop LAPD, Metal Gear Solid and a tonne of JRPGs to play on it. :datass:

Might still pick up an NES though and just get the games I'd like to play that aren't on the NES mini. Same with the SNES. The setup will then be:

Bedroom:
CRT TV
Playstation
N64
Xbox
possible NES/SNES in the future

Living room:
HDTV
PS2 w/upscaler
Wii (and therefore Gamecube) w/upscaler
360
PC

I'm so much more interested in picking up retro consoles I've never owned or replaying my older consoles than I am in getting a PS4/Switch. :slol:

Was an excellent trip with very enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff. Even had a go on several 90's VR arcade machines they had :datass:

That looks to be an amazing place, Hypes! It is terrific to see al of those systems and screens lined up next to each other... it looks so smart! It must have been a superb day out.

I know, right. There's more Jaguar games in that picture than I thought existed!
Also not pictured was a secret storage area they showed me round that had a metric fuckton of old consoles. I was literally stepping over Dreamcasts

Acquired a 24" CRTV via free cycle. A few scratches on the casing and a slight mark on the screen which isn't visible once you have a picture up.

Got the GC and Original Xbox (modded) running through it and have been playing Metroid Prime. Such a great game and it holds up visually very well.

Stunt Race FX is incredibly fun - I loved it back in the day...although it looks a bit dated now..Great music too!
