Amongst the usual suspects I saw original Neo Geo consoles and games, Japanese N64s, a Vectrex, that weird Panasonic Gamecube thing... loads!

Seems to be a passion project that doesn't quite have the funds for big premises. Go have a look if you're in the area: https://www.facebook.com/RETROGAMEZHQ

(There's a good record shop in the same unit. Got a great original copy of Scott Walker's second solo album for about a tenner. Nice.)

Wow, that place is still there? I used to go in there periodically when I was at college in Swindon from 2002-2005 so i'm surprised it has survived the last 12 years. If i'm in that neck of the woods again i'll check it out, thanks for reminding me!

eBay! There was 30 mins left on the auction with only 1 bid at £40, so I put my max bid to £75 (which is what I was happy to go to) and I fully expected more bids after mine but the clock just counted down and no one else went for it. Couldn't believe it really, I've seen Shenmue by itself go for £40 so I'm delighted

This will put the Saturn on the back burner for a couple of months I think, but I need to complete my SEGA console collection so still have the Saturn and 32X, MegaCD and Master System to get.

That is top notch work, Agent Preezy!

Polished off VJ tonight. Very fun game, solid 8/10. Well worth the £4 I got it for.

Good price on the £4. I find it quite difficult to find good deals on eBay at the moment - just missed out on Super Probotector on the SNES when it took a last minute upswing in price.

I know, it's also happening much quicker than my wallet was anticpating :slol:

I think my plan is to get all of the hardware that I want and then build up the game libraries for each console over a number of years, eventually resulting in a pretty decent collection.

I just saw that my mint boxed copy of Taz Express barely shows up in Completed listings on eBay anymore, and when it does, it's like £40-£60. So my quest for getting my copy of Banjo Tooie back may be just around the corner - subscribe to my newsletter for updates here.

They show up on eBay for about the same price as your Taz Express will sell for, GG. Don't expect that to go right away though, it's a bit of a niche title.

I'm currently frothing at the mouth over a good condition copy of Robotron 64 sitting with a BIN of £9.99 - from my research the game usually goes for £15-25. Hopefully it'll still be there when the first part of my pay goes in tomorrow.

You strawberry floater.

I'm going to see if I can justify grabbing it this afternoon. It's actually been very fun focusing the collecting on N64 games - I hope to pass the 100 mark by the end of the year. For the moment I'm staying away from the sports titles beyond particularly rare or important ones like ISS2000. The good thing about staying with the 64 is that it has a small library and not too many titles go for ridiculous money at the moment - it's been fairly cheap to get a good size collection of quality games together(along with some really cheap guff).

Robotron 64 is one of my favourite N64 games. It gained a pretty weak critical reception upon release as it was incredibly unfashionable... but it just plays so well and hasn't really aged. Great fun!

About seven to eight years ago I got really into collecting for the N64 and I picked up some nice items; but then, for me, the market got far too heated and expensive. I'm surprised that you're finding it to be well-priced, Cora! Albeit I guess that carts are available at a better price than boxed copies.

Yeah the cart only market is much easier than boxed - I've been able to pick up a couple of decent boxed copies on the cheap(Mario Party 2 for under £40 was a good one) but generally unboxed will knock the price right down.

I'm not overly bothered about boxed copies to be honest - there are a few games that I'd like to have in their boxes but I quite enjoy having the carts all lined up together, clean and in good condition. :D

The carts do look cool on their own, ready to be picked out and slammed into the console... I love the "instant load" factor! I haven't played on my N64 for about four years now but I will dig it out sometime.

If you enjoy the simple-but-slick gameplay of Robotron then I'd recommend grabbing Road Rash 64 if you see one around. That was similarly unfashionable when it was released but it is a terrific version of the classic biker. Chunky graphics and great action!
