I reckon I'm gonna end up with a stack of fake carts to take back to CEX haha. Albeit there should only be 1 left in stock now...

Raspberry Pi might be a good shout next! Fingers crossed for Switch though!

Yeah, I don't think I've literally once bought a GBA game on eBay since I got burnt almost immediately with fake Super Mario World cart that wouldn't save when I was about 13. Mailed it back to China and nothing happened.

Which makes me all the more glad I never lost a GBA game (I think), and now can count on buying up boxes and repros that are fairly decent to "repair" my collection. On the one hand it's quite good for real collectors because the authentic item will be much more valuable in the future when people will be literally able to print circuit boards in their bedroom and 3D print the cases. There'll be almost no reason to buy an original cart game in the next couple of decades.. although you could argue more so the case for emulation, a lot less effort!

Green Gecko wrote:Sounds like one I'd just emulate to be honest. Plug a PS3 controller directly into a raspberry pi and you won't be able to tell the difference, you can even play it through composite if you want an authentic experience.

You can get a gba emulator for android to have that portable experience too.

Super Bomberman 3 did come out in the UK, but it's pretty rare and goes for £100+

As for the SNES system, that's my favourite version in the photo above - it's the original UK release with 2 controller and Mario. The later releases only had one controller.

Got an EU fake of FFVI from CEX today. Tedious. Looks a really good copy, but no label imprint on the front and the board has a telltale black blob in the middle. That's CEX cleared out. Alas. Bit of a risk to keep it and plough through, given the hours you can put it and then lose...

Surely CeX accept returns for fake copies?

Yeh they do. Kind of feel if they can't carry out the quality control on stuff like GBA games they probably shouldn't be selling them...

Pilotwings, Mario Kart, Starfox, F-Zero - all pretty groundbreaking 3D games at the time!

Despite their claims of checking everything that comes in, i've almost been sold discs that look like they've been used as a sanding disc or had a huge ring from a dodgy reader engraved in it, i took the pleb behind the counter to task and got a different disc or if it was the only copy i refused to buy it and left.

I always ask to see the disk. But for Nintendo stuff I find half the time they're brand new. I guess people don't actually play wii u games and if they pay 30 quid for them in the first place they don't strawberry float them up...

MGS update:

So I've just done the whole retrieve the sniper rifle, defeat Sniper Wolf, escape containment bit, which has brought me to the start of Disc 2 at the bottom of Comms Tower A.

Had a lol cut-scene where one of the advisors says I should make use of the night vision and thermal goggles. Lolwat? I ain't got no goggles.

Edit: So before moving forward I decided to retread some old ground where I might not have been quite as thorough and found both of these as well as the body armour.

Check out my YouTube channel!
