I thought maybe some of you may be interested to take part in Retro Mondays, or tune in to the live stream every Monday (More or less.) Retro Monday is a thing where i choose people taking part at random, 3 games get chosen and then 1 game wins via a poll. We do this every week and have done for 66 weeks, 67 on Monday. The links in my Sig, even if you can't tune in live, you can always watch the video on YouTube, or take part to make me play some of you childhood greats/worsts.

Went a bit mental on the retro game buying last night again - Jet Force Gemini and Wave Race have been added to the collection, to take me above 40 N64 games, or almost 20% of the PAL released games for the console.

I'll back up Pedz on this; it'd be ace to see a few more folk join the live retro broadcast. It's not just about watching the game; you can join in the chat on the Twitch stream, too. Even when the game is bad it's still fun to be involved with it :) .

It sounds like you're building a great collection, Cora. Are you going down the boxed and/or cart route? Boxed N64 titles seem to be so expensive at the moment. I really got into the N64 around seven or eight years ago but the pricing has pushed me away now. Are there any particular titles you are looking to add to your collection?

Good condition cart only - it's far, far too expensive to go for a boxed collection at the moment. Eventually I'll get hold of boxes and instructions for some of them but that's a long way off.

I'm spending a bit extra just now because my annual bonus is about to come in

As for titles, I'd like the following:

Banjo Tooie
Blast Corps
Body Harvest
Bomberman 64
Bomberman Hero
Buck Bumble
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Doom 64
Excitebike 64
Glover
Mystical Ninja
Mystical Ninja 2
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
Majora's Mask(sold my copy as a kid)
Mario Party
Mario Party 2
Mario Party 3
Mickey's Speedway USA
Mission Impossible
Mortal Kombat 4
Mortal Kombat: Trilogy
Paper Mario
Pokemon Puzzle League
Pokemon Snap
Quake 64
Holy Magic Century
Resident Evil 2
Snowboard Kids
Snowboard Kids 2 - a pipe dream for the PAL version as this only got a limited run in Australia.
South Park
Star Wars: Battle for Naboo
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer
Tony Hawks Pro Skater
Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2
Wetrix
Wipeout 64

So another 40-ish to go. Some are extremely expensive though - I expect it to be a good few years before the collection is complete, especially when I'm also picking off my SNES and GC lists.

There - I've made life a bit easier and less expensive for you.

From your list, the above are the only games you need...the rest you can do without!

My N64 collection target is 30 games, which I believe are the "must have" (and all of which I had when the N64 came out, but then sold).

I only go for mint box and instructions though, so the collecting is considerably slower and more expensive... :x

Doom 64 is a nice one to get as it has totally different levels to the game on other machines. The graphics are very dark, though - you'll need to turn the TV brightness up a little! Buck Bumble is worth picking up just for the title screen music; it's amazing for a cartridge game  .

Two of my personal favourite N64 titles are Robotron 64 and Road Rash 64. Neither reviewed particularly highly at the time of release because they were slightly old-fashioned even then. Subsequently, however, the really solid gameplay shines through. Robotron has some amazing music tracks if you fancy a bit of 90s rave. Road Rash is incredible as you can drive off the track and go cross-country which I don't think you can do in other versions. The stunts and violence are terrific, too!

The rest are mostly games I used to own and got rid of, or played at friends houses and want them back for nostalgia purposes. I don't mind taking a bit of time to pick them all up if I'm honest, it's all part of the fun. :D

I'd really like Robotron if I can get it on the cheap, Jawa. Doom was great fun on the 64 - a totally different experience.

EDIT: Podracer for a fiver now. I'll post a pic of the current collection when everything turns up :slol:

Mystical Ninja 2 was available cart only from one of the stalls at the RGM a few weeks ago. Not cheap.

It pops up on eBay fairly regularly but goes for around £60. I hadn't realised the RGM was on in February but it looks like there's another in August so it's all good.

Keep me updated on that Preezy, would be happy to give you a good price on it, too.

I couldn't find it :( I know I've got a copy because it's one of the few NGC games that I played quite a lot, I just think the loft has claimed it.

Did manage to find Harvest Moon, Twin Snakes and a Zelda Collection disc that I think came with the console.

I'd take Twin Snakes off your hands if you wanted rid - that's been on my list for a very long time. :slol:

Oh, and I added Resident Evil 2 and Mortal Kombat 4(CIB) to my N64 collection last night. It's coming on pretty strong now.

What converter devices are you all using to play old consoles on new TVs? My 3-year old Panasonic plasma only has HDMI and USB ports, it doesn't have scart, RF or RGB ports at all, so I'm obviously going to have to buy something that can convert those old signals into HDMI.

Any advice?

Nothing for you there - my eight year old LG still has an aerial port and SCART.

I guess I could try and get hold of a crappy old CRT for the authentic retro experience, but I don't think the wife would be too happy, she'd probably make me keep it outside

Great work, Cora - that one can be expensive to get!

Good find; another pretty uncommon title.

The only other real options for that are to buy an XRGB Mini Framemeister which seem to go for around £300-400 on eBay, or wait and see if the OSSC (Open Source Scan Converter) ever gets anything more than a really limited production. You can buy Scart to HDMI converters on Amazon but from my experience of them they're not great. I was in a similar position last year and end up picking a 21" Bravia off eBay, cost me about £10 + fuel money for a local pickup. Definitely worth it given the crazy cost of decent alternatives, you'll just have to talk the wife round :slol:

Thanks Jawa! Yeah I was pretty happy with them - they set me back about £50 for both of them including postage. Looking forward to adding them to the collection!

Here's my current collection pics for the Cube and N64. A few of the carts(Mario Kart 64 and Mario Golf) are in terrible nick, but were like that when I bought them. I'll replace them in time, but they'll do for now.

That's a nice spread of N64 carts, dude! You seem to have a lot of classics as well as a few titles that often fall below the radar. I don't have Hybrid Heaven nor Foresaken and I'd like to get them at some point.

I think the last N64 title that I picked up was Fighting Force 64 (Core Design's 3D brawler) about six years ago. It's pretty hard to find and I only have the cart (usually I went for boxed versions when I could) but I was still pleased to have grabbed it.
