Going to brave CEX after work today, see if I can find a few bargains. Not after anything in particular, but I might get lucky. Or fleas.

I sometimes play CEX roulette. Order online and wait to see if they deliver something decent or a pile of dog shite.

The one I never get with them is when they don't have the case so they print one off and shove the game in a generic case and try to sell it at full price.

You can use their website to see what any given store has in stock, might save you a trip if there's nothing noteworthy.

I once went to trade in Watchdogs on PS4 and Lego Batman on PS3 to the CeX in North Shields only to be told they were in too poor condition for them to accept them which I found odd since I had just bought them from CeX online around a fortnight before this and they were in the exact same condition as when I bought them.

I took them to another branch of CeX to trade them in with the plan that if they also declined to take them I would show them the receipt showing where I bought them and pull them up for selling me games which they deemed to be in an unsaleable condition but the next store just took them no bother.

True, but I'm of a mind to browse in the store proper and impulse buy. It's only 5 mins into town from the hospital. :)

I think so.

Isn't it possible to kill them and make the game unfinishable? There's something bullshit about it, I remember that.

Yes, in your "collectopedia" (to borrow a great phrase from Xenoblade), it marks dead ones with an X and that's it. You have to replay the game.

You do fight Mizar at the "end" though, I think most people consider it optional, a bit like collecting the emeralds in sonic.. Of course you defeat robotnik but he makes off with all the emeralds.

The entire game?

My trip to CEX was quite successful. Didn't pick up any rarities, but I'm a bit of a rally fan so as an impulse buy I grabbed WRC 1, 2, 3 & Evolved for PS2 and a copy of WRC for the PSP.

I also grabbed another copy of Split Second for the PS3 as I'd chucked in my original copy, along with Motostorm Apocalypse, with the PS3 I'd sold to my work colleague for his little lad.

For a moment there I read Split Second as Second Sight and was all "Hang on, there was a version of Second Sight on PS3?"

I can't remember. You definitely remember the dead ones are marked with a big red X.. I think you're strawberry floated then.

Edit: I was wrong, but you have to complete a mission with all the tribals for it to matter, when you replay one it resets. So essentially if you spend a few hours on a perfect run of a difficult mission and one gets killed in crossfire (they out them like that deliberately) you have to replay that mission again, because you can't just go through it and collect the one you got killed last time (cos they all reset).

Nice little pick up last night! Found someone selling this Gameboy Micro with 3 games. Advertised as not working and with no charger. I have spare battery packs plus chargers so I got it home, stuck it on charge over night and found it works perfectly!

Overall really happy with this plus it was a bargain! The faceplate is a little scratched up but they're easily replaced and it's just a shame this is my second pink one! Hoping to find another colour eventually.Image

Is that double cart motogp and GT Advance 3? If so the latter is strange but very good if you're into car games.

I always liked GT Advance. I'm not convinced they'll be as good as I remember them if I booted them up today but I've got good nostalgia about them. Might have to pick them up. My copy of GT Advance 3 was in a GBA games case I left on a plane. Lost about 20 games :(

I played it on an emulator a year ago and it was still very good - its amazing what mode 7 tech can do for making pseudo 3d effects on minimal hardware.

It is indeed. Never really played many racing games on the gba but will give this one a go. Had a very quick play of Moto GP and was impressed with the visuals. Did a good job of a sense of perspective. Something I've struggled with 2D racing games.

Just had a look at both of them and GT Advance is even better in that regard:

EDIT: There is a newer game in this series, it came on in japan on the cube as GT Cube and over here on the Wii as GT Pro Series.

Fair play that looks really good! What would you say is the best racing game on the gba?

That's tricky - I imagine Mario Kart is objectively the best but I'm not a fan of kart racing so wouldn't rate it that highly.

F-Zero GP Legend/Maximum Velocity are easy calls, but then there's stuff like the aforementioned GT Advance, as well as V-Rally 3 and Top Gear Rally, the former almost looks like a PS1 game, even having a full in-car cockpit view:

Need for Speed Underground 2 is also pretty good, I certainly enjoyed it more than the GBA ports of Carbon or Most Wanted:

The GBA was an impressive piece of kit.

So I was having a bit of bother trying to get Final Doom to run on ePSXe. After a bit of mucking about I got it working. My daughter was interested in what I was doing, and on my success I celebrated by trying to do the 'Floss dance'. Much to her great amusement I got it completely wrong. No, I cannot 'Floss' and no I don't have a video.
