I didn't really get on with it. WaveRace 64 is better.

Played Sonic Adventure DX on PC today. Gave me motion sickness, collision is buggy as hell, terrible camera, weird slidey controlers with a Dualschock 3 (that I finally got working with Bluetooth but it's terribly flaky).

Downloaded the "Better SADX" mod that includes all the Dreamcast assets instead and it's much, much more playable. Also switched the voices to Japanese because I swear the voice acting was so bad it was making me feel sick with embarrassment as well.

BUt then I realised the real problem with that game is the control stick it's designed for - the Dreamcast is a sturdy but very twitch friendly analogue stick. Have the game on DC and played in hi-res VGA mode with VGA modded Dreamcast my friend lent me. Almost a completely different game, not nearly as many flying into walls/spazzing around in scenery moments.

I think possibly the sense of speed and twitch is just too much at framerates above 60fps, so I might cap it on PC and see if that helps.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

I got my 16th N64 game this weekend, and it's a classic - Goldeneye 64 :toot:

I paid a ridiculous price because I got into a mini bidding war in the last seconds of the auction, but I was determined to get this auction, as it's difficult to find in the condition I wanted it in.

That's 14 N64 games to go, and 17 SNES games to complete my collection target :toot:

Your collection is coming on really well, Andy - every N64 collection must include GoldenEye!

Your acquisition reminded me of an oddity around my copy... back in 1998 when I bought my N64 I got a GoldenEye pack that included the console, controller and the game. My version included a grey controller rather than the gold controller that was a part of earlier packs, but it was stil cool. Anyway, the game came as just a cartridge and a manual; no box. However, about six months later I discovered that the Services section of Nintendo UK sold a selection of boxes and inserts :o . I managed to buy a GoldenEye box and the white cart insert -I was well pleased! The box came flat-packed and wasn't quite up to the standard of a normal box; the printing wasn't quite as sharp and the cardboard not quite as shiny - but I'm very pedantic about that kind of thing and many folk probably wouldn't notice.

So, there we are... Nintendo once sold replacement game boxes! Wouldn't it be ace if they still did today!

Ha ha, and your story reminds me of a very similar one of my own, albeit with an earlier generation console, the SNES.

I had bought the SNES on launch day, and it came with a copy of Super Mario World and 2 controllers. Being the collector that I was (even back then when I was a small kid), I was upset at the fact it didn't come with a box for Mario.

It wasn't until a year or 2 later however that I did something about it (mainly because Nintendo didn't sell Mario World separately for ages as it was a bundle-game). So I wrote to Nintendo and told them about my situation...and a few days later, I had a shiny box in the post, again flat-packed, and all for free! Those were the days Nintendo seemed to care about their consumers a bit more!

I would like to join your merry Mega Drive Case Crew, too. I do have a soft spot for cardboard Nintendo boxes but, in the harsh light of the morning, I'd have to agree that the Mega Drive cases where just fantastic. Robust and stylish.

NES boxes were ok, and generally age much better than SNES boxes, which were flimsy and absolutely horrendous, which is why I'm taking such a long time completing my SNES collection.

The cardboard on N64 boxes was more durable than the SNES ones, so those held up better...

I was always very jealous of the cool boxes of my Megadrive owning friends.

I really thought I was going to get a relatively cheap very good condition of Twilight Princess (GC) earlier. It was a 2 day auction so would have had less visibility than most auctions and finished at about 10:30 when most people would be busy at work. With less than a minute to go, the highest bid stood at £28. Which was great because I was primed and ready to snipe it in the closing seconds with my maximum bid of £37.50. Apparently there's a lot of people not working today with lots of cash to splash as it ended up with about 7 bids in the last 30 seconds driving the price past my max bid before I got a chance to place it. :x

Great stuff - I'm looking forward to checking out the collection, Andy :toot: .

Drum, man, that's bad luck. I recall missing out on a few items in my eBay days circa 2010. I learnt that a good ploy was to, for items you're really keen on, always place your bid max at the highest you're willing to pay for the item... and then leave it. If you win then that's great; if not, well, it was more than you were willing to pay anway.

Anyhow... better luck next time, dude.

That's happened to me a number of times, at different times in the week. It's infuriating trying to get a good price on TP, Twin Snakes and a few other 'Cube games.

Patience will pay off, I managed to pick up a copy back in March after a month of trying and similarly missing out by fractional amounts. I even had two that I won for reasonable amounts and had to return due to the condition not being as described but I eventually got a copy in the condition I wanted for £38 :D

Picked up a few cart only sports games for the N64 that look to be in pretty good condition for sub-£5 each this morning; Madden NFL 64, Nagano Winter Olympics '98 and FL World Grand Prix. Got offers in on Wetrix, Knife Edge, MRC and Extreme-G too. The "Or best offer" function on eBay is a great innovation.

Yep. I've got a list somewhere of all the games they gave their 90%+ award to - hoping to pick them all up at some point in the near future, although I had a good chunk of them to begin with. A lot of the ones I'm missing are sports games or very expensive to pick up stuff like Conker.

The only N64 score I disagreed with hugely was Turok 2 at 95%. Ridiculous. Rayman 2 also scored a wee bit low for my liking, thought that was at least an 80% game.

Just had a quick look on ebay to get a rough idea how much a few of my games are worth and spotted a sealed Spirit Tracks in the collectors edition tin with a £250 buy it now price

Very tempted to sell mine now.
