I didn’t manage to get my SNES pics done yesterday - I’ll get them sorted just now and upload everything.

OK, so here we go. They're not rotated, annoyingly, but I'll try and fix that later on this evening. This isn't a complete list of all my Nintendo stuff either - for time and space reasons I wasn't able to get pictures of most of my hardware, my NES/GB collections or the neon GameCube sign that I have imported from Japan. What we do have, however, is the following:

Image
We'll start fairly modestly with the Wii U games. I'm particularly happy with what I've got at the moment but there's room for vast improvement - particularly hoping to grab the Bayonetta games, Breath of the Wild and a few others before I call it on this one. Unfortunately I haven't been able to put as much time into collecting for this as I have with other consoles, but hopefully will be able to do so before the inevitable hike in prices in a few years time!

Image
Next up, the SNES collection. Particularly of note here - Super Probotector was picked up by my brother as a surprise Christmas present last year, and the SNES Mini has been an absolutely fantastic buy. There's nothing to really write home about, hoping to ramp up the SNES gear when I have a bit more money. I've included the Super Street Fighter II package - it's not in very good condition unfortunately, because I bought it at CEX, but I really like the look of it.

Image
My GameCube collection doesn't trouble Drummy's sadly - it's a good 20 games away from that and will take me a few years to get around to at the prices I'm happy to pay - and they're not all in as great condition(Resident Evil :dread: ) but I'm really proud of having completed the Resident Evil Cube collection; only around 30,000 copies of the re-releases of 2, 3 and Code Veronica were pressed. I'm not sure if that's for the PAL region or worldwide, but it does mean that they're quite artificially rare and I managed to pick them all up fairly cheaply.

Image
Here's the meat of my Nintendo gear - almost half of the PAL library of N64 games. Notably missing from the first party library are Mario Golf and Mario Kart 64, which I recently sold with the intention of replacing as the images on the carts were damaged during a house move last year. In terms of other major releases, I don't have the later Rare games(Mickey's Speedway, Banjo-Tooie and Conker's Bad Fur Day) as I'm holding out for boxed copies in good condition. Generally I'm happy to pick up unboxed for the moment, but there are around 50-60 games I'd like to eventually have in good condition CIB.

Image
Next up, the boxes of N64 games that I've managed to keep hold of. A couple of them(Looking particularly at Mortal Kombat Trilogy) did not turn up as advertised from eBay, but I'd be lying if I said I was good at keeping them fresh. The only ones here that have survived from release are Ocarina of Time and Pokemon Stadium. Particularly happy with THPS2, which is in pretty good nick.

Image
This is a curious little lot - every FPS ever released for the N64, at least in the PAL region. It took me a little bit of time to track them all down. Daikatana was the most expensive, despite being probably the worst game on the list. There are a couple of absolute gems in here - Perfect Dark should go without saying, but Hexen and Forsaken were particularly under-rated games in my opinion.

Image
A little Duke Nukem twofer. I'd hoped to get pictures of every series I've completed on the N64 but there wasn't time! Maybe some day.

Image
Another series I'm particularly happy with, I got both of these boxed from a retro shop called Shmup in Glasgow's West End, which sadly closed down earlier this year. Fun fact - in the PAL region, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was released after THPS2, becoming the final PAL release for the doomed N64 in December 2001.

Image
This is, as far as I know, a complete PAL list of N64 wrestling games. There were two other WCW games released, I believe, but only in the North American territory. There was also a game based around the Japanese scene that sadly didn't make it out of the JP-NTSC region. The most expensive was the boxed copy of WCW Mayhem, the cheapest was ECW Hardcore Revolution, which is just awful. I got it for around £1 plus postage.

I'm hoping eventually to have the full PAL collection, but there are only about 20-30 games left that I genuinely want to have, and in good CIB condition. There are a few things to save for over the next few years, house deposits, Indefinite Leave to Remain for the missus and eventually citizenship among others but hopefully 2-3 years or so!

EDIT: It's worth noting though that one of those games is a boxed copy of Snowboard Kids 2. :slol:

Has anyone switched out the save batteries on N64 games? As I imagine that limits the play-ability of them somewhat after all these time.

Banjo Tooie update:

I've almost 100%-ed the first five worlds. I can't do the timed chop the TNT maze in Glitter Gulch though. I'm missing three jigsaw pieces and a couple of cheat pages in Grunty Industries.

Hailfire Peaks... at first it seemed overwhelmingly large and, because of the lava everywhere, difficult. Now I know the layout it doesn't seem like either of these is as true now. I'm missing one last jigsaw: I've won the kickball tourney; beaten the dragons; gone inside the volcano; gotten the jigsaw piece in the bottom left window of the colosseum; fed Boggy a fish; gone inside the ice train station; rescued Sabreman; rescued the aliens; and done something else that I can't remember but it earned me a jigsaw piece. I've also activated the mining factory thing, but that seems to have sent another jigsaw piece into the oil container in Grunty Industries. Which is odd as there's already two jigsaw pieces I can't get in that same room (behind the grate at the bottom of the pool of green water, and inside the glass box at the far end of the same pool) plus a piece behind the giant fan, which makes four pieces where I've already gotten seven. And I'm yet to beat Weldar. Hmm.

Cloud Cuckoo Land is fun so far but I can't shake the feeling they ran out of ideas for themes and figured "we're not making another game, so let's put all our leftover ideas together here". Four out of ten pieces so far but two of those from shooting mini games.

That TNT maze is a dick. I did it recently and it took maybe 15 consecutive attempts.

Most of my loose N64 carts doesn't count the boxed ones ( I probably have about 15 boxed games, Pokemon Snap, Pokemon Stadium and a few others) also doesn't include my doubles and wasn't supposed to include my import carts but I see one of those managed to sneak in (I only have 10 loose import carts total)

I grabbed Ken Griffey Major League Baseball cart only for the N64 (USA Version) for £2. Actually looks pretty decent so far.

I was going through some old PlayStation magazines and noticed that many SEGA Saturn titles were scheduled to appear on PSone, such as Daytona, but ultimately never did. Anyone know what happened there? As far as I can remember very few Dreamcast games/sequels made their way over to PS2 either. Crazy Taxi and Virtual Fighter being the two most notable ones.

Black and White and a new Duke Nuken were scheduled to appear on PSone in late 2002/2003 as well but never did.

Been playing through Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the first time. The version on 3DS. Been enjoying it - even the infamous special stages, but the save feature definitely helps. I like the idea of them, and to my memory this kind of special stage was executed well on Sonic Rush, but the spikey ball placement is a bit cheap in some places and Tails does not move quickly enough to avoid them. The latter issue hasn't really been an annoyance yet but it might be in later stages.

Tails is annoying yeah. But I quite enjoy them. It's very hard to get all the emeralds. You need to attempt multiple time per level. I can't remember whether this is a sonic 3 thing or not but I think there's an extra stage if you get them all (something I possibly did only once by accident and didn't know what was going on).

The 3DS is one of the best ever ports/emulations. I still dip into it just to play a random level.

With Saturn being a freak of a console with multiple processors the code base was probably a mindfuck to port and not worth it, but there were definitely some cross format titles.

They were very different systems. Saturn actually had better 2D and Sprite scaling abilities, for example the backgrounds in Daytona were probably driven by that. That's why there were some amazing shooters and other 2D games.

Conversely, PS2 was a bitch to code for, which is why it took a while for the really nice looking title to transpire like MGS3, ico etc. (And mostly games heavily funded by Sony)

I'm pretty sure crazy taxi was on at least some other systems than dreamcast (GameCube?)
