How was the Prince of Persia trilogy of games? I've got them on GC but never played them, I've heard Sands of Time is pretty good

I played Sands of Time and while I could understand why people enjoyed it, it didn't grab me.

Every few years, I get hit by the "retro bug" and do stupid things.

I bought a CRT last week, then I ordered a whole bunch of cables.

To top it off, I've now bought an N64 again...!!

I wasn't planning to buy one until I completed by SNES collection, but the urge to play Diddy Kong and Goldeneye was too great...

I think I've been hit by it too. I've recently been buying loads of 'retro' stuff (I use inverted commas because stuff like PS2 and Gamecube still doesn't feel retro to me), most of which are JRPGs. :datass: I'm also reading/watching videos about them more and more too, whereas I just have no interest in current/next-gen stuff.

Isn't that supposed to be your favourite game (Goemon aside)?

Sorry, never played them.

In case you didn't hear, you can get a fully boxed version of Diddy Kong Racing off of eBay for the bargain-tastic price of £30.

AXL wrote:I've just plugged the NES in using the good old aerial RF cable - and I love the retro look of it. Yes it's a bit blurry, and the colours are a bit too bright, but that's what makes it so cool. It looks a bit like a painting.

I don't understand why people insist on modding their old consoles to achieve pixel-perfect RGB colours etc...I'm more than happy with the RF lead.

Same goes for the SNES - plugged it in using composite scart, and looks great!

Yes, I get the SNES games may look crisper in RGB etc. but there's something about the blurry look that feels right...

What a complete load of old nonsense I was talking.

Just plugged in an RGB cable to my SNES. WOW! It looks so much better...crisp and lovely colours.

Now let's try a different cable with the NES too!

Edit - just tried the NES with composite instead of RF. It's a bit weird having the cables come out the side of the machine, but it's one heck of an improvement! No more blurry RF mess for me!

Now I've just gone and bought a second N64 controller...still don't have any games though (or the system yet as a matter of fact)!

I'm getting way more excited about retro games, then anything else at the moment!

I'm in 2 minds about how to start building my collection, but I think I'm going to start with those games that I haven't got on Virtual Console:

1. Diddy Kong Racing
2. Goldeneye
3. Perfect Dark
4. Jet Force Gemini
5. Mickey Adventure Racing

My ultimate goal is to re-build my old N64 collection which I sold 10 years ago - and here's a photo of that very collection I sold :-(

Oh man, what a collection. I had twelve of those boxed games, as well as three of the other games boxless.

Don't ever look at eBay prices, AXL. :slol:

:o . Blimey, AXL, you had a lovely set there. I hope that, bit-by-bit, you can re-build your collection back up :toot: .

That's a lovely N64 collection. It'll cost a lot to get all that back.

I'd love to start grabbing more Nes, SNES, N64, GameCube, Master System, Mega Drive, Saturn, Dreamcast games, but prices are ridiculous. It's a bit gooseberry fool really.
