It's the ZXP and I know the website looks like a Geocities website but it seems legit enough..

Ahh yes, I remember this one. Their first version started bricking Gamecubes. By the looks of it now they've sorted it. Just looking around and another highly regarded adapter is on Amazon UK which I didn't realise! Must have been recent. This one has had loads of great reviews and now I know it's on Amazon I am very tempted to pick it up. https://www.amazon.co.uk/GCHD-Gamecube-HDMI-Adapter/dp/B078ZLMQH9

Looking around for games I agree with Sterling that the majority of titles just aren't worth the price some folk are asking. For example, £199 for a PS1 PAL copy of Xmen vs Street Fighter is taking the absolute piss. Some Dreamcast titles, like Shadowman, aren't even worth the tenner most are asking for, especially when you factor in broken cases, missing manuals and in some cases the disc on its own.

Retro game collecting has gone crazy. Mostly down to scalpers or sellers on eBay who try their luck by bumping the price up on a game, other sellers see that someone is trying to sell it at that and they bump all their prices up. I'm all for emulating or companies like Nintendo doing virtual consoles or mini classic systems (wish they didn't try and kill ROM sites though :fp: ).

When it comes to video game preservation this industry makes no sense.

As for Nintendo? They're twats.

Back to retro games buying, I'm going to just buy titles either privately, car boot sales or any shop I might stumble across randomly selling retro video games. Online pricing is just too high. Means I won't buy as many, so I'll just emulate until I stumble across any original title I'm after.

Haha, thanks! What you can't see are pokemon stickers someone has carelessly tried to pull off! It's a bit of a mess back there. Haven't got round to giving it a once-over. Keeping it for a backlight project now that the special cable needed is available outside the US.

Remember when the shitheads at EB/GAME used to scribble preowned filing codes in permanent marker on the manual, disc and back of boxes. :dread:

I bought Windwaker from that on release date. I was like 12 and I hadn't preordered. Turned up in the morning and sold out, they then told me another load of the stock was coming in after lunch so I pretty much hung around the area for about 4 hours with a friend until I could get my hands on it... Was worth it in the end!

I have the same GBC too.. Nice condition. I originally had lime green but I smashed the screen in playing donkey kong country.. :fp:

I have 3 GBA SP's in the house, have one set aside to use as a controller for game boy player with the link cable. I kind of want to do a backlit mod on a GBA original though because it's more comfortable. Shame otherwise the screen is basically unplayable as-is.

It was shite, the graphics melded together into some completely horrible mess. Can't blame you.

Thanks! I'll make sure to adjust it when ever I post a pic from Tapatalk. :D

Jazzem wrote:Oh man, those handhelds  Never seen the green+orange GBA before!

Thanks man! :D The green and orange is a reshell. I picked an artic GBA and it was grubby as hell so I thought I would use the opportunity to try a reshell. I always like going for colour contrasts so I found the green shell and then the orange buttons came up and I was like YES!

I have plans for that one too. Going to put a backlit screen in plus a mod to adjust the brightness plus I'll install a new louder speaker + amp.

The silver and black one I bought premodded with the screen but I now feel confident enough to give it a go. Might actually reshell this one too not sure if I like the silver and black... Maybe translucent blue and clear buttons?

D'aww that's ace. You got a bit of soldering experience under your belt? I always wanted to try stuff like this but was always too nervous to ha. Hopefully one day I can put together a backlit OG GBA and couple it with an Everdrive

Yea a tiny bit of experience haha. It's literally a case of soldering 1 wire to the gba board for the 101 mod. The biggest pain is cutting down the screen housing to make room for the thicker screen. Still not crazy difficult as a pair of craft cutters and some sand paper will do the job nicely, it's just a pain.

The other mods will take a bit more concentration but there's plenty of YouTube videos out there!

Once I've done this one and as long as its up to standard I'll think about taking on custom orders for reshells and 101 mods just to see where it takes me :simper:

Yea my modded silver gba has an EZ Flash Omega in it. Pretty much the complete package now! I got a load of gba, gb and gbc games on there plus it has a built in nes emulator (I don't use it but it runs really well).

Flash carts are my favourite thing I think. I love their convenience.

Reminds me of our class rushing to Woolworths at lunchtime at school to buy halo 2 and then sitting reading the manual in English class after lunch. You're right it doesn't happen anymore.

I remember reading the manuals of new games on the bus on the way home  .
