Thought this might be the best place to post this before I go elsewhere. I have a really nice 32" Sony Trinitron CRT TV that I picked up lately for retro gaming, the plan was to use it as my main TV for playing retro games once I'd moved but unfortunately having measured up I really can't manage to have it without sacrificing space required for something else so I've gone down the route of picking up an OSSC instead and am going to pass that through a monitor for retro games.

Would anybody in here be interested? Not looking for any money for it as I only paid about £3 myself a few months back but collection would of course be required (and you'd need plenty of space!). It comes with the remote (although it is a bit grubby) and the stand.

Is it a normal 4:3 TV or a widescreen one?

It's widescreen, got it mostly so I could take advantage of the Gamecube/PS2/Xbox games that support widescreen but of course it does mean big black borders on older games (and ones that dont support widescreen modes). I do have a 21" Trinitron which is 4:3 which I'm in two minds about keeping or not (but leaning more towards getting rid of).

So it was a decision between getting a Switch and going on a retro binge. I decided on the latter!

New purchases in the past week are 3 classic SNES shooters:

R-Type III
Axelay
Cybernator

All complete and in amazing condition. In fact, Axelay are R-Type are shop new :)

That brings my SNES tally to 40 boxed games. 10 to go to hit my collection target of 50, but I think the final 10 will be slow going...!

Evidence.

To be fair, it does look to be in terrific condition!

That's actually not as bad as I was expecting. Looks class, too.

I remember getting Cybernator as a kid - my parents bought my SNES for my birthday as a bundle, but held back some games as they thought they were too adult for me. The Chaos Engine was the other game. (They probably would have held back Street Fighter II, too, had the game not been advertised all over the console box.)

They gave it to me about a year later. I thought it was brilliant, but I could never get more than halfway past the second level.

Got a rare good deal on ebay yesterday.

Considering the games there £80 was more than fair.

Here's a photo of my 2 recent SNES purchases:

R-Type is the official UK version - despite not appearing to be from the box and the manual, which are both in English. I remember this from the time of the game's release as well, that it was one of the few SNES games to have multi-language box and instructions. :)

The castlevania games alone cost £80. Everything else was essentially free.

Is that Portrait of Ruin a US version? I picked two of the DS Castlevanias up a few years ago when they were cheap

Portrait is the us version which costs a little bit less than the European release.
