Sadly not, but I wish I was. Think I'll have to cough up...

Cheers bud. Possibly more than I was hoping to pay, but I'd rather get a decent one, so I think I'll go for it.

I've just been playing a bit of Mario Golf on the N64 (which I bought the other day)!

Wow, such a good game, and I immediately got back into the swing of things :-)

To me, the sign of a great game is when you haven't played it for 10 years, and when you play it again, it's like you only played it yesterday...I immediately got the feel and subtly of the clubs etc...

Probably the best sports game of all time!

I had that with Smash 64. I don't understand why I had the feeling that game was "too slow" before. It's still brilliant, and actually very smooth.

Smash 64 is still a very fast game. Combo contests are a thing now.

That Mario Bros stage was always great for stage damage.

I need to pick up Smash again for the N64, but it's pretty expensive nowadays.

Sorry to keep going on about Mario Golf, but I had forgotten how dream-like it is. I've never played a game where the "feel" or everything is so spot on.

The N64 really has the most incredible library - small, but incredible.

Since completing Sonic 1 earlier in the week, I've been on a bit of a roll (no pun intended).

I've since completed for the first time, Earthworm Jim (SNES) and Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Master System.

EJ; I've never been able to get through Buttsville, the insane helicopter sections, bees nests that are infuriating and creatures that bite you in half have always had me, but getting through Snot Fare Level 3, without using any continues helped quite a bit. I killed the last boss not knowing it was the Queen (you circle her on a green snot, shooting at her, which was quite a piss poor final boss). Cool consequences for whipping the cow at the start in the ending.

Sonic the Hedgehog on the SMS was a breeze compared to the Mega Drive counterpart and I enjoyed it more, quite an achievement to shrink the game down for that system whilst maintaining the look and feel of the main console game.

I'm now currently playing for the first time; Sonic 2 and up to Oil Rig Zone. Really enjoying the music, chunkier feel to the game, more vibrant and varied levels. Also the coin loss mechanic has been improved you always have a split second extra to grab one coin, which is making the game slightly easier. Tails does my head in through, sometimes sets platforms away in front of me or makes them crumble leading to stupid deaths and anything he does seems to cause lag city. Coins seem more abundant in general too.

Is there something not too expensive that will tick all the basic boxes for SNES/MD/Neo Geo/PC Engine games? I'm leaning towards the snes-a-like USB controllers on Amazon, but would appreciate it if anyone has bought/used a specific one that works well.

I've been using this one (it looks like it anyway) I got with a nerd block a couple of months ago, works well with the snes emulator on my laptop.

Sonic on Master System is a great game and never gets enough love. When I last played it I missed the extra life in Jungle Act 3 so didn't unlock the extra life in the final level, I might play through it again tonight or tomorrow since I'm it's only around an hour long.

Does anybody know if you can record gameplay footage with Fusion?

Turns out I've answered my own question. It is in fact very easy to capture gameplay footage with Fusion. I tested the process out while playing Sonic on Master System earlier tonight.

I'm guessing the emu is a bit glitchy.

That's adorable, I thought I had seen it but hadn't. It's like a miniaturised Sonic in every respect, that's more platform oriented. Even the credits are cute. "Music Produce".

Yeah, the video does go quite glitchy, it wasn't like that while I was playing it. Probably should have watched it before I posted it I guess but never mind. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

The version I have on my computer isn't glitchy either, it's only gone all funky since uploading to YouTube.

Just finished Sonic 2, god that last boss was hard and caused many restarts! No rings also, Silver Sonic was a cake walk but Final Eggman hit detection on his claw seems random at times. I'd let him do his 4 steps forward, one back then hit him twice. Then for his next attack (firing his arms) I would just go to the other end of the room and miss that attack pattern I could not avoid them, or if I did they would get me the next time.

Loved the music and level design, it's made me hyped for Sonic Mania. I'll give Sonic a break before I tackle 3.

Probably quicker to just emulate.

Funnily enough, I have a lot of megadrive games on Steam that I've just forgot about. I was thinking about Dynamite Headdy the other day

Reading all this love for retro gaming, it's worth mentioning that Pedz plays (Pedz Playz :datass: ) a retro game every Monday night, streaming the gameplay LIVE and EXCLUSIVE on the GRcade Twitch channel.

It'd be cool to see more folk voting for the game and joining in the chat on the stream :toot: .

You can also jump over egg man at the start of that boss fight and hit him from behind, but it's hard and the hit detection is weird there too. I can hardly ever beat it, I'm not sure I ever have.

Played the first two zones but mostly for the music. Tried exploring the levels a bit more and forgot you can get extra lives with 10,000 points or more.

One day I might try to get all the chaos emeralds, I think it changes the ending (or I might be thinking of sonic and knuckles).

If you get all the Chaos Emeralds you can transform into Super Sonic temporarily.
