You can get a ROM of the game online and as far as I'm aware it's actually the full, finished game. I've played a little of it before and it seemed decent enough.

Wow, that's something I didn't know.

Sunsoft made some incredible NES games - Batman 1&2, Blaster Master, New Ghostbusters 2...all really good games. They knew how to push the NES graphics & sound to the limit...

That's a nugget of info I wasn't aware of - nice one, Salad!

Just been talking to Retroed on Twitter about this. I used to have a sealed copy of SNES Zelda: Link to the Past. I had it for a few years, then decided that I really ought to play it one day. So I opened it and played it.

Today I discovered that a sealed copy is worth hundreds.

How I laughed.

Sealed games... it's amazing to think that some folk collect them. I can see the attraction - rows of "new", minty fresh games would look stunning! - but, personally, I prefer to open the cases and check out the contents.

This returns us to a point I made the other day; do you (not just you, rinks - all of us!) collect games because of their value or because you like them? Perhaps a bit of both?

Might have already taken the photo in preparation :shifty:

Been having a bit of a handheld session this morning (oo-er), played some Portable Ops on PSP and Super Mario Land 2 on Gameboy. What continues to amaze me about older games, particularly the Nintendo titles is just how playable they still are. SML2 is so good - great music, looks superb and is just so damn cool on that banana-yellow Gameboy :datass:

I have sealed PS2 copies of Space Channel 5 and Space Channel 5 Part 2 (the unreleased PAL version) that I got in a charity shop in Guildford for a few quid each :slol: . I imagine at least the latter may be worth something.

In my defence, the point at which I opened it would have been around 1998/99, so it's not like I ruined something that was already worth a fortune. But yeah, if I'd kept it sealed all these years... But then I'd never have got to play LttP in its original incarnation. Ah well.

I don't see the point in sealed items

Like Jawa said, I can see the attraction for a collector, but as far as I can remember I've only ever bought a game for one reason: to play it. In that respect, despite having a huge library of games, including some reasonably valuable stuff, I don't really consider myself a collector.

I've heard that some collectors will buy every game twice, once for the sealed copy and once to play. Pretty expensive hobby!

I can't even see the point for a collector. I'd want to look at everything in it. Sure keep it in great condition but by keeping it sealed you're missing out on a lot of the package. Admittedly that whole package is greatly reduced now in the days of no manual/insert.

Sealed games are absolutely pointless.

Games are there to be opened and played...

I see no point in having a sealed game in my collection. It achieves nothing.

Since I'm not sure how many people frequent the trading post these days I thought I'd share this here too,

http://grcade.co.uk/t:wanted-vandal-hearts-on-ps1?f=9

In short I'm looking for a copy of Vandal Hearts on PS1.

EDIT: Disregard this, I found a copy on eBay in the condition I was looking for at a price I was happy paying.

Just picked up the Wii Classic Controller Pro, or whatever it's called.

Why does this plug into the Wii Remote and not the console itself? :dread: :fp:

God I hated that thing. I was so frustrated when I'd saved up enough Stars points to get the Wii SNES pad only to find it wasn't available anymore.

It seems fine as a controller (although the button placement is a little odd) but I don't understand why Nintendo made it so awkward to use normal controllers on the Wii (GC, classic, pro, etc). If I want to play a Gamecube game I have to use the remote to select the game initially from the home screen, and then I can use the controller. Why can't I just select the game with the controller?

And it's baffling why there's a different process then for the classic/pro controller...ie, having to have the remote powered on the whole time and the controller then plugged into it. Who thought that was a good idea? Why can't I just plug the GC/classic/pro controllers in and only use them, without having to dick around with the remote either briefly at the start or for the whole damn time I'm playing. Nintendo :fp: :fp: :fp:

Anyway, following on from our discussion on eBay listings and the condition of games, I've just seen this. It's listed as 'Very Good' condition and the description says "the disc & case are in very good condition, although the cover may show signs of wear & tear."

Plugging into wii remotes was a cheap way to use wireless, those controllers were cheap.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

I'm umming and ahhing over getting Pokémon Colosseum for GC (again). Seems fairly reasonably priced on eBay, but I can't recall much of the game beyond the single player adventure mode.

Could someone with the game (or better memories of it) remind me what is in there outside of the adventure mode? How does it compare to Stadium on the N64? I know there's no mini games, but what about the other game modes?

It's absolutely nothing like Stadium(and not a patch on it) - it's an adventure game based around catching and healing dark Pokemon, with no game beyond the adventure that I remember.
