Picked this up from a junk pile for £4 at the weekend.

Tried it out on smash bros to see how it stands up, the strawberry floating build quality on it is incredible.

I'm not a huge fan of the 360 controller so I'm considering picking up a couple of USB repro NES controllers from eBay to use with Nestopia but have a couple of questions.

1. Has anybody round here ever bought/used that kind of thing?

2. If so, are they any good?

3. Are they just plug and play or do you need to install owt to get them working?

My copy of Mario 64 arrived in the post today, and I gave it a quick spin tonight (having last played it and 100% completed it when the N64 came out)!

Wow, what a game. It's just so perfect, and for me, no other 3D Mario game has that same magical feel.

I had forgotten just how good it was, and to think it was Nintendo's 1st 3D game!

If Mario Odyssey comes anywhere near, then it will be amazing.

Call me old fashioned, but give me these old retro games any day over today's stuff. They're just so playable. :toot:

Speaking of N64s, I've taken the plunge and ordered a bundle off eBay, console + 6 games (including Perfect Dark) :toot:

Aside from Perfect Dark I want to add the following games:

Super Mario 64
Mario Kart 64
Goldeneye
Ocarina of Time

Which other titles are considered must-haves?

Very excited  :toot:

Great stuff, Andy - it's nice to revisit an old classic!

The N64 is s such a cool machine, Preezy - it's good to see you've jumped on board!

I guess it depends on what type of games you enjoy, dude. You can't go wrong by trying out the classics such as Ocarina and GoldenEye, but beyond that it may be an idea to seek out titles that suit your tastes. I tend to enjoy simple, easy-to-pick-up-and-play stuff, so I like Robotron 64 and Road Rash 64.

Just started (and almost finished!) World's Scariest Police Chases on PSone, based on the hokey TV show that used to be on cable. It came out in the middle of 2001.

It follows the same formular, and it looks almost identical in style, but it's a much better game than Driver 2. The handling is great once you get used to it (I'd forgotten how heavy car games used to feel and less responsive the analogue sticks also were) and being able to shoot out of the car with various weapons adds variety.

Astoundingly short game though. There's only 20 or so missions, and if you're good they only last about 5-10 minutes each.

Anyone know how to get Policenauts Saturn version up and running with the patch through emulation?

The guide is confusing the hell out of me ._> I'm on a Mac, I just want to play this game :(

I thought you couldn't really emulate Saturn due it's odd hardware.

That'll probably be it for a while unless something really good comes up.

My copy of this turned up today - lots of sticker residue seemingly everywhere on the plastic film but nothing that five minutes with a cloth and white spirit can't return to pristine condition. :D

Game, cover and booklet all in immaculate condition too. :toot:

Sounds like you've picked it up in excellent condition, Drum! I only have the first game in that series on the N64.

Edit: Could it be something to share in the next Retro Club Weekender?

I'm hoping to have my N64 arrive in time for the Weekender, which I assume will extend to Monday due to the Bank Holiday? :shifty:
