Yeah, the retro gaming market has - for me - got way too heated over the past six years or so. Even so, when you consider that buying a new digital copy of CoD WWII plus season pass is gonna set you back about £85, or that the new Mordor game and season pass is around £90, then retro game pricing seems almost reasonable.

Both modern and (some) retro gaming pricing is ridiculous, of course, but the retro stuff is more likely to at least hold its value; and maybe increase.

Nah, paying say £100+ for a game that's over 20 years old is not imo almost reasonable. More so when the money goes to some scumbags pocket.

I completed Dino Crisis this weekend and whilst I enjoyed it, I was always waiting for the game to really kick off and get going. There needed to be more dinosaurs and more varied environments.

It's a fantastic premise, but ultimately fell a little flat. I would love a remake or sequel with modern technology, but doesn't seem likely ...

Anyone played the sequel?

Definitely, brightside. A few years ago the PS1 market was pretty flat but, as folk get older and remember the fun that they had with their PlayStations, that market is rapidly heating up. Especially as discs are easily scratched and the game cases are often damaged.

Saying that, some of the prices have become crazy, but I guess we all have different priorities

I, for one, would find it absurd spending £100s of on digital content - give me a pristine cardboard box of a SNES or N64 game any day, over 3 or 4 digital downloads for some games which won't even play when not connected to the Internet. My trusty old SNES carts work every time

But yeah, it's not ideal. The prices are nuts, and I will only do the crazy spends a few times a year, if that...

I'm only thankful for it in one respect, and that's even some games that aren't very good can go for decent money in good condition, and then I recoup some of what I've lost. It enables you to tailor your collection to what you actually want.

For example, I guess I started a small but decent wii u collection by selling my entire 360 one, and in the future, I don't think I'll regret it. Because everyone had a 360 and its games were, in my opinion, generic.

I'm still looking to get my Metroid gba games boxed up again, considering their value (heading towards £50+ now). Now the box for Zero Mission ALONE is going for as much as £30, which is strawberry floating stupid.

Which means my brother literally threw away hundreds of pounds.

They're not worth much, but this meant all the peripheral boxes for my GameCube and N64 as well. I think that sort of thing is going to skyrocket in value at a point, because almost nobody at all keeps boxes for retro peripherals, especially considering that nowadays they are often blister packs or other shitty packaging.

It's odd to believe that now 3 of my GameCube games are worth considerably more in today's money than what I originally paid for the console and its launch games.

Resident Evil gun survivor won't work on my Slim PS2. The game loads up fine but then I can't move. I'm using the normal controller not the light gun but the game doesn't acknowledge any of my button inputs. Anyone know the solution?

Looking to sell or exchange for SNES, n64, gba, md my shelf worthy CIB copy of Taz Express now (N64) but don't really want to do eBay, anyone interested as a late/pal only release? Only shows up in foreign results on eBay now and pretty much always cart only. May be more of an investment to someone willing to help me get stuff back?

GBA was the one system I stared long and hard at on eBay. If I could get a micro or an AGS-101 at a decent price I would but then you run into problem 2 which is there are so many fake gba games out there. Hard to tell online as well. I don't even know what happened to my GBA collection. I had all the gooseberry fool hot stuff - both metroids, wario ware, pokemon, boktai (crap game but I but it sells for a high price), advance wars 2, Super Mario 1, Super Mario World, NES Zelda, Minish Cap, Sonic Advance 3, Astro Boy, Gunstar Super Heroes, probably more. I have no idea where they went I think my mum must have given them to a young relative or something. God I bet some of those loose would be quite valuable? Oh well.

Then the more I think about it the more I'd rather emulate. If they did a new GPD XD with updated innards I think I would bite.

I have a few factory sealed GBA and DS games, including Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga which I've only seen one listing for on Ebay at a rather optimistic £220, admittedly its an uncirculated copy but mine is almost as pristine and is from the initial release rather than a players choice reissue.

I'll keep an eye on it to see what it eventually goes for.

You can still get some bargains in retro, just more newer stuff and not boxed nintendo games. Picked up the Metroid Prime trilogy for £20-30 the other week, and if you're just interested in the carts for older nintendo stuff you should be good.

Absolutely. It's the old Nintendo cardboard box which usually makes the huge difference for the price of retro games.

Depending on the game, it can add hundreds, if not more.

So if actually playing the games is the priority, retro gaming is affordable.

But if you want to collect (I both collect an play - I only buy games I'll actually use and play), it costs significantly more...

For me, it's all about nostalgia and I want to have the games I had as a kid Unfortunately I had very good taste back then, and most of the games I had are the most desirable ones now.

I have spent 4 hours today trying to complete Expert Mode on Wave Race Blue Storm. God it's been infuriating.

After 3 hours Friday night, 2 hours Saturday morning, 3 hours last night, 3 hours this afternoon and another 2 hours tonight (13 hours since I started counting the sessions, real figure is probably ~20 hours) I have finally strawberry floating finished Expert Mode.
