No way will I be paying for the PS5 upgrade seeing as it runs at 60fps back compat for free. Sony are crazy thinking people will pay for a slight resolution boost and a few other enhancements. If this is a successful money raising scheme for Sony they will repeat for other games perhaps a PS5 version of TLOS 2. I will pick up the DLC when on sale.

This has been on my "buy in a discount (and when I've got through more of my existing backlog)" category for a while now. Sony taking the piss over the prices means it's just going to get pushed further down the pecking order.

I really like the look of the game but strawberry float paying £70 for it.

Ironically, it’s one of the few games out there that’s worth £70 of anyone’s money.

You're only saying that because you'll never actually have to pay it :capnscotty:

The problem with "worth" these days is that it's tied up in so many other factors. I've no doubt that this is a big, impressive and enjoyable game that in theory justifies a premium price tag. But at the same time I've got a backlog of big, impressive and (hopefully) enjoyable games that cost me a fraction of what this did (I only just got around to doing Horizon ZD which I got for £12 and I've still got Spider-Man which is basically completely untouched at this point!), or there are games which offer a similar big bag of fun which are on sale for £30 or less.

I'm happy to wait until this one drops before jumping in because I've got so much else to occupy me at the moment. If I had no backlog I might have been more tempted to cough up the big bucks!

The game has twice been on sale at thirty wraps in the PS Store so there's no way I'm paying sixty for this new expanded version. I would like to check it out should it drop in price again, though.

Weirdly, the game is not available at all on the Store right now :? . Only the upgrade is listed.

I'm only nearing the end of Act One (I think storming the castle is the next main mission) but GoT seems the most 7/10 open world game I've ever played. It's an amalgamation of a generation's worth of open world games, and while the combat system is really good it so far hasn't done anything particularly memorable as a game or a story.

I am really enjoying it but I'm also really glad I got it for £30 in a sale (or slightly less because I got the PS credit off CD Keys), and it hasn't made me itch to pick up a PS5 for an upgraded version.

7/10?!?! Absolutely not, an easy 8.5 and change. What a game.

It's the ultimate expression of a 7/10 being better than an 8/10 though. A nice, safe, well executed but very familiar game.

It's probably a 9/10 for me. I'm very happy own my biases on this, I love the time period (I read a lot about pre-modern Japan), and I love the atmosphere. It probably sounds really weird but I've used the game as a substitute for hiking in Japan during lockdown. If I'd played more massive open world games my score might be lower but since I've played relatively few I've not become fed up with any particular genre beats that exist in such games

Please do not post this in the "No Context" thread

Closer to a 9 than a 7 for me, as well. Yeah, it touches a lot of the open world bases but it does enough of its own stuff to better most of them. Be it through its stories, characters, combat, diversions or the world. And its world is one of the most gorgeous of the last gen. Beauty of nature overload! Can't wait to replay it on PS5. (When it's at a decent price.)

Not weird at all seeing as it's filled with scene after scene of natural wonder. Stunning game to wander through.

It depends what you look for in your open world games. I love that GoT didn't overdo it with a million things to do. It's much close to something like BotW than other games where you just go where you feel like going. I think the curiosity aspect of it was masterfully crafted. I never once got tired just strolling through Tsushima. The devs had a very clear vision for this game that they didn't try staying too far off with which I respect.

At least a 9 for me too. The art direction is impeccable and the combat is so exciting and satisfying that I went out of my way to fight everybody.

There's isn't really a number I can attribute to this personally. GoT was a dream game for me on so many levels. I don't think there will be another experience like it until the sequel itself.

It would be a solid 7/10 game if it wasn’t a samurai game. It’s pretty much a very familiar “sandbox” game.

The genre, for me, has fallen stale especially it’s what the majority of Sony’s first party line ups are like.

But the story is top notch. And you get to weld a samurai sword. And you can play it with the honour of a samurai or be a Ninja. A easy 8/10 in my book.

I must have missed the sword welding mini-game.
