Goldie Lookin Chain, They've been around for years,
They've done some boss tunes that get into ya ears.
I enjoy the phat lyrics, and the beat ain't lacking,
Just comical rhymes that send boredom packing.
But I'm an old white guy, Who's only hood is on my coat,
So tell me right now, Do they get your vote?

I dunno much about 'em, really, but I always giggle at Baneswell Express (2013):

And I just heard their latest, Is it Wetherspoons? (2023):

I saw footage of them at a festival recently. Seems there’s only 2 or 3 of them left these days. Maggot is a financial advisor now.

Hahaha it's funny because they're making songs about everyday things.

And those everyday things are things I've heard of!

Amazing!

Best thing to ever come out of Newport.

Which isn't saying much admittedly.

I saw GLC live two or three times back in the day. They just seemed to be at every festival I went to for a while.

Never heard of 'em.

The ending is absolutely on point.

Fade if you don't get satirical rap you need to watch that one.

Edit: They're playing a seaside club venue in Brighton in October, I am genuinely thinking that might be great fun :slol:

I’m seeing them in Newcastle in November, it’s my most anticipated gig of the year. Apparently the two young lads that actually write the raps do most of the live show with the Northern Boys themselves just trying to rap along, dancing around and having a good time. Should be a decent laugh!

Sold out here. From what live video's I've seen, it doesn't seem to be like that, they're actually performing.

The bald guy does his own thing as "Normal Pain": https://www.youtube.com/c/normanpain

Essentially experimental rap/hip hop and two of them are former musicians, I think they know what they're doing even if maybe they get some help on the production side of things with computers and drum machines and gooseberry fool (and videos/social media).

To be fair that seems pretty legit to me, you have to hand it to them to be doing hardcore gangster rap stuff in that time of your life. For all we know it's the most successful they've ever been and they were simply leading up to this.

Definitely need some musicality to pull off even a half decent tongue-in-cheek banger.
