I would find it hard to pick a top 50 albums, never mind rank them or pick a top five. However without over-thinking it, these 5 immediately spring to mind...

Nice list FF. I do love Arcade Fire. Don't forget

I know it's not a "proper" album, but it's a great EP.
Got to agree with the KOL pick too - that's when they peaked for me. ASH was great with some real standout tunes (Milk  ) but it's not as consistently strong as BOTT. McFearless is my favourite song on that album, absolutely ace.

I only recently read this, too - great book, absolutely fascinating. I'd love an update on the past few years. By The Way's my favourite Chili Peppers album by some distance, I think I'm more a fan of Frusciante's mellow guitar-led melodies than the 'classic' RHCP funk-groove-punk beats.

Anyway, some contributions...

Such a shame KOL went to gooseberry fool after Because of the Times, it's an incredible album

Yeah I was curious about that too Dan; read up a bit more about him on the net and it seems he's managed to keep clean since finishing the novel which is cool. Fantastic book as you say. Love rock autobiographies, The Dirt by Motley Crue's even better.

Agree with the praise for KoL's BOTT as well, great album. In a similar vein I'll put forward

Bloc Party -Silent Alarm

What followed was generally a bit gash but that was an album I was obsessed with as a teen.

You have varied taste and there are some amazing albums on there. NFG, Bon Iver, The XX, Finger Eleven, Joy Formidable and Childish Gambino, all outstanding.

Cheers Cora. Nice to find another F11 fan too. They've not done much for a while though, they're due a new album I'm sure.

Found out today Sufjan Stevens' new LP is due in March, which is top news. Need to get that on pre-order before the price skyrockets.
