Again old news.

Seriously, this was all discussed months ago. Presumably its because HDMI is now standard and you can use any old cable you want (or buy one for a few pounds), its not worth them putting one in the box any more.

Or alternatively, because it is 'standard', they should be in the box. Moreover, the fact that they can now be bought for such as low price means that it wouldn't cost MS too much to do so.

I think its a bit petty to complain about something that makes so little difference to most people now.

Complaining? Not, really. Just pointing out that there is a flip side to both of your points.

I agree that they should include a HDMI cable but then Sony doesn't include one either. It can't save them more than a quid per console but I guess it all adds up and they probably make a load from selling official HDMI cables.

Yeah, I've got nothing against MS. It's just a little thing that both companies could do to make things a little bit easier for the consumer. Also as Mafro says, heavily advertising your console as HD then making people pay extra for it (no matter how little), is as valid a point now, as it was when the 360 launched.

Surely it makes more sense to bundle in an HD cable because we're further into the HD generation?

EDIT - Oh God, CABLES

So so far the problems are:

1. The 4GB HDD isn't really a HDD
2. You can't play Co-op in Halo Reach with a 4GB 360
3. The headset isn't included even though there is an icon of a headset telling you it isn't included :shifty:
4. No HD cable packed in.

Just the first two.

The problem is that the packaging doesn't tell you the 4GB Xbox will restrict game features and that you need a HDD for the full game experience in some cases.

Nope the problem is Microsoft need to indicate on both games and the system that they do not work 100% without a HDD. This needs to be clearly visible for the average consumer.

I knew the 4GB flash memory wasn't a harddrive but I wasn't aware it didn't function exactly like a 4GB HDD. Rik has so badly got it wrong on this that just using a facepalm wouldn't go far enough.

For all intents and purposes why can't a 4GB flash memory act exactly like the harddrives anyway? Technically isn't it better, less moving parts (so more reliable), and I thought it had faster data access speeds too?

Pretty dumb of them to release it before the harddrive is out to buy too. There must be hundreds of 4GB 360 owners who are now in the same situation which can't even be sorted out for another 15 days.

So...what exactly does one use a 4GB flash memory for, then?

I assume you can still download XBLA games and store media, right?

I've had far too many unproductive days at work lately and it's mostly due to my addiction to this place. Cutting off from this place did wonders for my work rate for the last few months of uni, so it's time I did it again. I don't know when, or if, I'll be back, but you'll still find me everywhere else you would have before.

Goodbye. :)

It does work exactly like a HDD...except on some games that require an actual HDD for some MP features.

I don't think its all games or all MP features.

This is why its presumably quite hard to be clear about it, because its not that it just doesn't work at all, it appears to be such a small amount of games and modes that don't work.

Personally I think it should be clear on the game boxes, don't think they need to put it on the console.

I thought this was going to be one of Pyxl-8's "I'm going to troll Microsoft" topics, but he's actually discovered something I never knew :shifty:

Seems pretty silly you can't play Reach/ODST online without a hard-drive, what does it even use it for (especially since most Halo data is stored on their servers...)?

Well this situation arises when you put cheap alternatives in the market of the same console... didnt agree with the Arcade 360 back in the day as I thought people would be misled, dont agree with this...

Having said that, people who have access to forums and the internet and have a solid gaming background shouldnt really be caught offhand. I always try to research my purchases or drop a question on a forum so that I get an idea of what to expect.

I like how everyone is saying research what you're buying. I thought one of the major reasons for purchasing a console was the fact you can just pick it up and be playing your games with minimal effort, you shouldn't have to do research surely? If before you make your purchase you have to consult spreadsheets to see which version of a console does what you might as well just get a pc.

I think its just co-op thats effected. Think you can play Reach online, just not online co-op.

Although I could be wrong about that.

Don't know the exact box content of all the latest console SKUs? Then you don't know gooseberry fool about video games.

Which is what confirms to me that this pricing strategy is aimed purely at getting more monies out of the uninformed/casual gamers.

I think that most posters agree with the guy who posted this because they "know" him, but in many instances a complete stranger who falls prey to these things would be laughed at on gaming forums.
